I had an unassisted triple play in elementary school.
Against the school for the deaf.
ETA: Runners first and second I’m at SS. Line drive I catch, the runners run when the ball is hit, and obviously can’t hear the coaches trying to get them to go back. I touch second and tag the runner coming from first.

You played for Joe Gibbs? He is not an a-hole.
Guy on the left lives nearby, still goes by Coach.

I was playing 3rd base and my best friend was catching. A fat kid on the other team tried to steal 3rd. My buddy threw him out and I tagged him out in the face.
It was funny because he was fat.

Mobile Al, hotter than bejessus and the creek is closer than water fountains. No such thing as a true bounce and the ball better not get past you. Want to bat? Play defense first. The greatest days ever. Stayed friends with most of those guys forever.

Not really. All I remember is we had teams with kids based on where we lived and we played two years in each division.
First year we would get our brains beat out by other teams of kids a year older.
Second year we would be pretty good and beat the next first year teams.
Since we were made of kids from neighborhood we had some kids that were good and others that were not but it didn’t matter.
Our coaches were dads who were just there to help not wanna be pro players who wear uniforms and act like they are coaching in MLB.
To be honest I’d rather it this way then all the travel ball nonsense which isn’t real baseball with paid coaches of today. I’m glad I don’t have young kids playing in todays youth baseball

There was about a seven year period where I ate, drank, breathed, and shite baseball. I loved it. I still do but not MLB so much anymore. Playing was the best. It could be a thousand degrees outside but we practiced and played.

This was a year after little league but still a heartwarming story. City championship game. Our team sucked so I was just watching. It’s the last inning with 2 outs and the team batting is down one with a man on 1st and 3rd. Pitcher walks the bases loaded. Guy on 3rd thinks the bases were loaded and starts arrogantly walking in thinking he is tying the game. Catcher calmly tags him out. Game over. His dad told him to find a ride and left him at the ballpark.

Same here. I knew everything about MLB and what I could about college baseball (Pre internet). Played wiffle ball or baseball all day then went to practice or games in the evenings then came home and played baseball video games. Still watch college but I probably can’t name 10 MLB players.

I have encyclopedic knowledge about 90s baseball.
Don’t remember much from any other era

My Little League team went undefeated one year. 18-0 and beat teams like 56-6. Got our pictures in the Mobile Press Register.

My wheelhouse years were around 1990-1997. I could rattle off records and stats like nobody’s business. Devoured the sports pages and Baseball Weekly. We could watch the Braves on TBS, the Cubs and White Sox on WGN, the Astros and Rangers on WBTR, and still had the Game of the Week to boot. Didn’t have to worry about stupid MLB TV subscriptions or blackouts. Those were the days!

We were the local version of the bad news bears. Never won a game. Instead of a drunkard for a coach we had a teenage pothead. We all called him possum, because that was everybody in town called him. He was a good guy, but he never made any attempt to coach.
We were getting hammered by yet another team, and he put me on the mound to pitch.
Umpire, who was one of the HS football ciaches, felt so bad for me attempting to warm up dropped his gear and walked to the mound and gave me pitching lessons.
The lessons didn't take.

Yep. Kids were all local and had names like Brian, Jason, etc.
Not these traveling braxtons and jaxons.

Yes...pitching a no hitter, but losing 5-4.
Coming in to pitch with bases loaded and no outs. Faced seven batters...HBP BB BB BB K K K
Getting hit in the on deck circle by a thrown bat.
Sharing the teams 4-5 batting helmets.
Hoping ground balls would not come to me in key situations.
Hits I had...some really errors of course.

My baseball team was the Rebels. We would be cancelled today.

I hit a line drive that popped up off of their SS head and center fielder caught it. I was out.
He recovered. He wore a batting helmet in the infield for rest of game.

I just remember swinging and missing.

Yeah....I had just moved from Memphis back to central Missouri and the town where I lived had 3 teams (most small towns had 1). Anyway no on knew who I was and I got on the absolute worst team in baseball history; the closet we came to winning we lost 18-0. Anyway there's an all-star tourney at the end of the regular season and 6 guys from each of the 3 teams would make the All-Star team and I made it; not bragging but it wasn't a surprise. Anyway I was the starting SS, batted 3rd and we swept the All-Star Tourney. The only 3 wins of the year for me.
