I assume that the renouncement issue and immigration years prohibits me. But I don't know the full immigration details on all ancestors.
I have seen the form for one great-grandfather who signed his oath renouncing all loyalty to the Kingdom of Italy and King Victor Emanuel II.

Why? Italy is worse than Louisiana.

I found someone who is going to pull all the records I need and get the apostille docs to apply. About $2,500. Then just need to get an appointment at an Italian consulate.
Would you share the contact info?

But living in DFW, why? You can easily spend months in the EU on different types of visas, and only have to fly to the UK every 29 days. It's not hard.

I'm on the wait list. My Great grand parents immigrated in 1901.

Let's think a bit about this. You and your brethren voted and got what you asked for. And now, after decades, it's so bad, you're going to try to be citizen of a foreign country, whose language you most likely don't speak, and you think it will be better? You could just move to Houston.
If you're like every other predictable TD user, your username indicates you're probably more than 20 years from retiring. If it's just weekend kvetching, fine, but it's not realistic if you need to work. Multiple EU places I've looked at will not even accept your CV unless you have an address in the EU.

The why is clear. Be able to live and work anywhere in Europe.

Does Scotland do this?
Part of the UK program, have to prove Grandparents born in UK, and some other criteria.

If I had Italian blood and my grandparent was a nazi, I probably wouldn’t tell anyone, let alone try to claim citizenship

If you had an EU passport, you could live there with a bona fide address. That way they would accept your CV.

You can also do this with Irish ancestry. It does get a little tricky with grandma heritage, as women weren’t considered citizens of Italy until 1948, so if any of your heritage comes from a grandma, it’s an added step. I inherit my Italian ancestry through my grandma, she was born in 1934, So basically I have to apply for her citizenship posthumously, then pass it down to my mom and then me. I have all my paperwork collected, I just haven’t pulled the trigger with the court cost yet.

A whole hell of a lot of my great grandparents came over from Italy.. what would be the benefit to being an Italian citizen?

It sounds like some of you have done at least a basic level of research. Is this an EU wide thing or just Italy. One of my grandparents was German and the other full Norwegian...in fact until my uncle moved to Texas every first born son had farmed there since coming over in the mid-1800s. My dad was adopted and there's no way to trace it back. All we know is he is half German and half Austrian. I've long had suspicions he was a bastard born to a loose woman fricking WWII POWs (he was conceived in mid 1951) who stuck around for awhile after the war. Of course that theory has been thrown in limbo with the revelation that my dad has a Jewish feature under the belt. (Just found that one out yesterday.)
His adoptive mother was able to trace her side directly to Germany. I remember as a teen reading letters between my grandparents and her cousin who was still German but spent winters at his villa in Spain. I wonder if that adoptive line would qualify me for German citizenship. Not that I travel the world but I fly the Norwegian flag during the Winter Olympics and Germany is always a 2nd or 3rd team after the US (and Norway when applicable.)

I’m pretty much 100% English. No way would I want to become a citizen of a Muslim country.
