The Galleria hotels connected to the mall itself is very convenient. Can life skate and plenty of food that is convenient, and you can Uber from there anywhere you wanna go.
The zoo is nice
The aquarium isn’t too good. But it’s been some years.
They have really good indoor racing, fancy go carts over there.
KIMA boardwalk is cool, but it’s a drive.

Did the Waze route and ended up on a toll road. Sam Houston? Figured NBD, I'd pay whatever when we exited. After we were en route we saw signs stating no cash accepted, only EZPass. We drove about 4 miles on the toll road and exited through the cameras. Do y'all know if they send you a fee bill like Florida or something else? Is it a "prepare thy anus" situation or just pay the toll and move on?
They should mail a bill to the registered address. It's gonna be like $5 lol

Go to Astroworld and enjoy the day.
But seriously, the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the butterfly center is pretty cool.

No, I was referencing the “woodlands resort”.

Somewhere near Herman Park, Hospital District, Rice Military area is nice enough. There is the park, museums, and restaurants. Also are centrally located in the city to go any direction you want. There are plenty of AirBNB in the area. Childrens museum is nice. Minute Maid is only 2miles north as is Discovery Green Park and downtown. There are still some homeless/transients in the area but you're in a city. Use it as opportunity to tell kids why drugs are bad...lol. Thats what we do when we take kids to NOLA, Atlanta, or Houston.

Somewhere around the museum district and medical center.
Some of the best museums in the country all in a small area, top notch Zoo, Hermann Park, Miller Outdoor Theatre, Rice University all walkable areas. Great restaurants nearby as well around Kirby.

Its Thursday before your weekend trip which is 4th of July weekend and you are just now looking for a place to stay? And a good area at that?
The last time I stayed in Houston I think it was a Hampton Inn that is maybe two blocks from NRG stadium.

out here in Katy we have the Typhoon Texas water park next to the Katy Mills Mall with a nice Bass Pro Shop and other shopping.
There is the AGR Sports Adventure Park including paintball, laser tag, airsoft, and axe throwing, plus an on-site bar.
There is the Andretti Indoor Go-Karting & Games, the Homerun Dugout, Topgolf, Monster Mini Golf, plus of bunch of indoor play centers
Plus a couple of nice breweries which are kid friendly also if you wanted to grab some drinks
I second all of this. Katy or the Woodlands IMO
