The response

Flattening the curve, not overwhelming hospitals, etc etc was all a hoax

Or a lie. More of a lie really

Can always tell the low-IQ ones like you, argue out from a point of dishonesty. The hoax is the moving goal posts, ignorance-based response from the government and public figures, and willfully ignorant sheep like you. I have access to Federal COVID-19 research gateways, you are an uneducated rube putting his faith in totems.

I do not understand all the self righteous “I wear one to protect others” claims. If you do not have it (as 99.5% of the population doesn’t) then you aren’t protecting anyone from anything. Beyond washing your hands, have they come up with anything that keeps one from contracting it?

Improperly wearing an N95 mask such that 0.5% - 2% of the total filtering area is bypassed results in a 60% decrease in the effectiveness of the mask providing protection. It gets much worse for lesser masks, for homemade ones the effectiveness can drop to 5%. Now STFU you uneducated little tard

Just so we’re clear here...you agree that even a homemade mask that is improperly worn is 5% more effective than wearing no mask at all?

This. This is a problem. Get ready for another mass shutdown because of uniformed, embarrassing, and politically driven posts like this. It’s may be too late to start taking precautions. It doesn’t take much digging at all to see that masks and social distancing help SLOW this thing down. I don’t want to be out of work again! I don’t want to be without football this fall! I don’t want hospitals overrun by this damn virus. Why aren’t hospital workers and doctors dropping like flies in this country?? They are taking preventive measures. If we did the same we wouldn’t have to shut down again. It may be too late for some states. The nearly 6,000 that were confirmed in Texas today have already infected many thousands. Those people will do the same. Get ready for the shutdown because of stubbornness and ignorance. They same people acting like this today will be crying when their favorite team can’t take the field or their son, nephew, or cousins have to miss their senior season of high school sports.

So because I’m asking questions and I don’t have access to federal databases, that makes me low IQ?

Asking questions and admitting where knowledge is lacking is a sign of intelligence, not ignorance

Properly putting on, wearing, and taking off a mask will keep the virus from spreading.
The problem?
Few people know how to propely wear and take off a mask. When you add to that the fact that most people are wearing the same mask over and over for a week or more, and the effectiveness of the masks isn't that great.
Cloth masks, in reality, do very little. "BUT it's for stopping particles when you cough or sneeze!" Cotton fabric probably does very little to stop particles. Then, when people wear masks every day for hours on end, that puts them at risk for other very real, serious medical issues.

I will wear a mask when I absolutely have to. If it isn't required, I will not wear it. No government should be mandating the wearing of masks. That should be entirely up to the individual and the business.

Your links specifically say medical and cloth masks don't work.

Lol... Did you even read them or just post what some msm article linked telling you what they supposedly said?

Excuse me?

The study found that if people wear masks whenever they are in public it is twice as effective at reducing the R value than if masks are only worn after symptoms appear.

In all scenarios the study looked at, routine face mask use by 50% or more of the population reduced COVID-19 spread to an R of less than 1.0, flattening future disease waves and allowing for less stringent lockdowns.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7191274/
quote:

The study suggests that community mask use by well people could be beneficial, particularly for COVID-19, where transmission may be pre-symptomatic. The studies of masks as source control also suggest a benefit, and may be important during the COVID-19 pandemic in universal community face mask use as well as in health care settings. Trials in healthcare workers support the use of respirators continuously during a shift. This may prevent health worker infections and deaths from COVID-19, as aerosolisation in the hospital setting has been documented.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2662657/
quote:

Adherence to mask use was associated with a significantly reduced risk of ILI-associated infection. We concluded that household use of masks is associated with low adherence and is ineffective in controlling seasonal ILI. If adherence were greater, mask use might reduce transmission during a severe influenza pandemic.

I didn’t say they were dropping dead. What if the hospital workers weren’t wearing masks or social distancing?? They would need to go home, correct??? Who would take care of patients?? Volunteers?? They take measures to protect themselves and patients. Why can’t the masses do it to protect the others and the economy?? I don’t get the “ shut it down” or ”the virus isn’t causing any problems” attitudes. People at my job have the masks don't work attitude. Guess what... They are gonna cause myself and others to be sent packing again. Why??? Ignorance, politics, or selfishness. Damn shame

Hospital workers are properly trained on how to use PPE. They are also wearing much more than just a mask.
Do you know if their infection rates are lower than the general public?

Such a lame excuse. If this was the case....you would have surgery staff dropping like flies in the past several decades from wearing masks hours on end at work.

Just admit you want to act like an overgrown, spoiled , ignorant toddler throwing a tantrum and don’t want to wear a mask.

Don’t keep giving the same lame excuses over and over

Just in the state of Alabama, roughly 22% currently, and as high as 33%+ in the past, of cases have been healthcare workers/doctors, longterm care facility nurses/workers and residents. That is a large percentage of people who, presumably, use the most precaution. They are also the people who come into contact with the virus the most. Let's not act like a mask is a magical barrier protecting anyone who wears it.

No. That's not what I want to act like. I know what I have read and heard. And I have my thoughts on it. It is okay if you don't like it, and you want to call me names. I can take it; you won't hurt my feelings. I can assure you of that.
