So Mrs. Vox and I happened to catch a great deal at a local Goodwill. A Supor brand electronic rice cooker. We have an American marker Zojirushi cooker, and it's amazing, but we'd like something for when we need larger batches of rice. Plus, for $7 when it normally costs $400-500, it would be crazy not to.

Problem is, we don't speak Chinese. Theres barely a lick of English on the whole thing. Does anyone here speak Chinese? If we can figure out what the buttons mean, we'll be good to go.

There's a whole slew of things on the LCD display, too but I figured I'd start with the function buttons.

Anyone?

ETA: It's a Supor cfxb40hz6-120

For starters, it’s pronounced “Engrish”.

Step 1: Video your failed efforts to use this thing through random button presses.

Step 2: Upload to YouTube.

Step 3: Use money from viral channel to purchase English version.

Honestly, just take a picture of it with google photo app and press translate, that would be the most efficient way

Yeah, that was my first attempt. Ironically, GOOG is worthless when it comes to translating Chinese. I think it's the font.

I thought it was Korean, are you sure it’s in Chinese?

You can't beat that Zojirushi fuzzy logic. Maybe just eat that $7 and get the original (you can get a 10-cup for under $200). And it comes with a manual. In Engrish.

Between the Reddit thread and Google translate, I think we're getting there. It's just Extremely time consuming.

The company sells some products in NA, so I reached out to them, too.

In the interest of covering all bases, I put this on Twitter and tagged Joe Biden and Diane Feinstein, because, you know... reasons.

Are there no Asian people where you live?

And I HIGHLY doubt that is a 400$ cooker.

I see on dhgate that looks similar and it was reduced to 100. And another on alie for 150.

Unless you don’t value your time your deal isn’t really working out.

We actually passed an elderly Chinese couple in another store after buying it, and I got about as far as "Hey Babe, you know what we could do..." and my wife said "Get out of my head. I was just thinking that."

It really was our best shot all day at getting to the bottom of it all.
