This is news? Antibiotics never worked for viruses; only immunizations work for viruses.

Awesome. Pugs are very odd little creatures. I'm afraid our little pug will not be around too much longer. She's still healthy (for her age) but I'm starting to see that she's really showing her years. She looks almost exactly like your female except, as I said earlier, her muzzle is mostly gray now.

But antibiotics often help the secondary infections which people are more likely to catch due to the stress their immune system is under.

I though this was pretty much common knowledge. Is this news to anyone?
It should be common knowledge, but probably isn't.

And nucleotide/side analogues (HAART, Acyclovir, etc), Neuraminidase inhibitors (Tamiflu), fusion inhibitors (Fuzeon), integrase inhibitors (Raltegravir), and protease inhibitors (ritonavir)
All listed in parenthesis are merely a single example of a drug in the class, rather than the sole members of the aforementioned class.

When you can demonstrate a controlled clinical trial or meta-analysis of a case series that suggests prophylactic antibiotics are beneficial in the case of the cold and flu, the entire medical community will be happy to start prescribing them prophylactically. Unless, of course, you are suggesting that they are given when a secondary infection surfaces. In which case, yes. Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections, regardless of their primary or secondary origins.

Are their names Ebony and Ivory, cause that would be pretty awesome.
