You do realize that there’s just as many Cajuns in Iberville & WBR as there are “on that side of the basin” stop acting like good Boudin is something ONLY people in a specific area know how to make. Y’all are somethin else

you people who think any food “on the other side of the basin” is garbage are the worst. Y’all need to branch out more and realize that good Cajun food can be found in other places too. Not every Cajun who can cook is from your precious Acadiana.

And yet no one has given me a legit option to try. I'm just talking from a BR native now in Eunice.

I think I am in unique position to comment on this. I also asked for legit recommendations so I can compare. I've only got one so far in Cecilia, I think this might warrant it's own thread actually. I'm sure it has been done before

You missed the point. My point is that people act like once you cross the Atchafalaya river, every aspect of Cajun culture is gone and they don’t exist. There are plenty in Iberville, WBR & Pointe Coupee.

So name me some boudin east of the basin that competes with just avg Acadiana boudin

Acadiana(prairie) cajuns do smoked meats and rice and gravy meals the best and crawfish etoufee

Cajuns east and south of the basin cook very good seafood dishes.

well this is not true in the slightest. Simply from even a geographical area standpoint.

Best Stop in Scott is #1 boudin blanc I've had. Plus, its the "Boudin for Peace" winner multiple years...lol. Small chunks of moist pork and right mix of spice and other parts (liver, gizzards, etc.). I'm not a fan when the meat is shredded. It is not the same. Best Stop is #1 in my book.

Billy's is #2 for me. Theirs has more black pepper flavor and it is very very good.

The rest are pretty far behind those two IMO.

Boudin Noir is hard to find. FDA is strict with its prep. It is like Morcia (spanish blood sausage/the best sausage I've ever had). I've had Boudin Noir from Bourgeois Market in Thibodaux & T-Jims in Cottonport. Both were great.

Hit the Boudin festivals in Scott and Lafayette each spring (usually April). Great stuff.

I would love to hear more suggestions as I am a boudin hound.

I know the owners of Bergeron's (Lobdell exit off I-10). They have good stuff there.

Where is LeBlanc's?

boudin balls at the little francis? are you serious? I eat them every two weeks or so but they are special. not enough liver

I was just stirring shite. They are really good and not enough people know about that gem on 61.
I can't say they are better than Billy's though. .

The food at The "little" Francis is all good. I love how they have cracklin out for samples all the time.

Come on T-boy, you gonna catch you a fit. We know that there are people of Cajun lineage across the river. The truth is, the basin was like the other side of the world in the days before roads and bridges. Our cousins to the east were subject to different influences than those of us on the west side. We share the history but not the same experiences. Neither is better. They are just different. The Cajun experience can change in the span of a few miles. As far as the show goes, I think it tried to explain the Mardi Gras history and traditions in a fair way. I think that locals know that the run in Mamou is vastly different than that in Eunice, Church Point, Iota, etc. I think the inclusion of the Creole culture was great. It was spot on. Good folks doing it their traditional way. Its all good.

Ah I forgot they closed down and turned into Rouses. But yes, Bergeron’s is legit and is “East if the basin” as they call it. Hahaha

Bourdain had a way of pulling together the food, culture, geography, etc and, despite his dark nature, present it all in a very respectful way. There was simply no way to present that version of Mardi Gras in any other way than just grotesque. Made me sad for our state.
