And Yes. The counter balls are different than the sitdown Francis restaurant next door.

I am a huge Bourdain fan.
I must admit, that this episode was a let down and he did seem disengaged. It was entertaining, but lack of enthusiasm and gushing over the food was surprising. Suires is really good btw.
The boucherie episode filmed for No Reservations was WAY better.
I like the CNN show (Parts Unknown), but prefer his Travel Channel show (No Reservations). It seems like he had more control and went off the rails more often (loved his desert episode...hanging in desert partying w/ his friends, the Christmas special w/ Krampus Clause, etc.). He was allowed to get weird more. The CNN show had bright spots too...the recent episode on Antarctica was really interesting.

Great episode. I was shocked they showed him on film shooting a pig with a pistol. You'd have to think they wouldn't be able to air that today.

Depression can hit someone anytime and when you are depressed, you are not just "upset" because something happened. It is a feeling that takes over your body.
yup. it isn't just mental distress. the feeling takes over your life. you don't want to do anything because you're depressed but not doing anything makes you more depressed. It's exhausting. The dude has probably been dealing with it for years. The reason people don't always get help is because they are often terrified of being a burden to others. They don't want people worrying about them or going out of their way to help. They put on a happy face and pretend everything is ok. Like I said, it's exhausting.

Put some boudin place up against Superette, T-Boy's, Mel's and I'll try it and give you an honest assessment. I'm not even from here but when I moved from BR and tried the boudin over here my mouth dropped to the floor. Jerry Lee's is what BR claims as their best.

Br doesn't have anything resembling good boudin. I'll agree with you there. It's edible at best. Try the Piggly Wiggly in Cecilia if you ever get the chance.

I always respected bourdains minimalist cooking style. Many of his favorite recipes could be prepared with just a spoon and a heat source

Mikel trying to argue there’s better boudin on that side of the basin is like me trying to say we have better college football on this side.
It’s just dumb

I have seen every episode of all of his shows through the years and that unfortunately was one of the worst episodes. Sad considering the circumstances and location. It was grim

Doubt he was Catholic. Pretty sure he wasn’t religious at all.
He referred to himself as being a Catholic on paper. Meaning he'd had the usual sacraments.
But if getting ashes is meaningless for you, then don't get them. And for sure don't get them just so that you have footage for your show.

Jesus, I made the mistake of bringing Baton Rouge boudin home to Lafayette for a family get-together. Huge mistake. Like bringing an Italian to Olive Garden.

Thats a pretty dumb statement. Jerry Lee’s may not be as good as some of the boudins across the basin but to say it’s “edible at best” is simply wrong
