I read in the most recent CNN article that the coroner says they died from respiratory failure. That sound like big H to me.

If something more recent than that has come out to point away from drugs, please post it.

If I were betting, I'd go with the guys wanted to bring the hoes back to the ship to party. They pick up some heroin on the way back, or the chicks provide it. The guys shoot up and the chicks get scared and run away when they realize these dudes just ODed. He coroner gets the bodies and sees that they are not longer breathing and calls it respiratory failure so all parties involved can save face.

I don't understand why former SEALS should be assumed to wear halos. These guys weren't Boy Scouts and they weren't on active duty. They'd been in an extremely dangerous line of work during a decade of ceaseless war, which has serious impact on one's mental stability. Further, the conditions of their prior employement makes it hard to develop a normal family, probably ruins most marriages that began prior to it, and results in guys who are old enough to have families but don't (as Rust Chole on True Detective says - after a certain age, a guy with no family is bad news) and posses skills that are only valuable in certain, dangerous, foreign, odd sources of mercenary employment, such as guarding giant container ships and fighting African bush wars.

I said something along these lines in the original thread that was posted the day the news came out and was immediately attacked by various posters calling me a fricking idiot, POS, etc.

A couple of days later another SEAL, who had served with them, wrote an article pretty much saying the same thing.

I think they either legitimately OD'd or were either inadvertently or purposely given a bad batch by the hookers or someone associated with them. The chance of someone murdering two highly trained operators on the ship or before they made it back are slim and none. The hookers probably got them good and fricked up, they went back with them and did some dope (different batch) and the hookers sent them home with a bogus batch.

Actually I'm pretty sure Mark was a Boy Scout.

Won't say they were straight shooters cause they were Seals. But it does appear to be fishy.

I seriously doubt they brought them back on the ship with them. We're talking about the Maersk Alabama. With all the shite that happened with Capt. Phillips I'd bet that security on that ship and in the port are much higher than normal. Ship and port security are pretty tight to begin with.

Right? I doubt there was some murder plot here by these hookers. Dudes just bought some bad drugs or OD'd.

I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around the heroin angle, though. SEALs aren't angels, but they are smarter than the average person, and anyone with their eyes open any time in the last 30-40 years should know heroin is bad news. Drinking, sure. Coke, why not. But H? Unless they just didn't give a shite any more, which I guess is possible.

My guess is they had done it before but it had been stepped on as is usually the case. They weren't prepared for the purity of the Heroin they got and did the usual dose and that was it. I mean who here hasn't accidentally done too much, we were lucky and lived.

I thought I read on here that they ruled it out. The thread may still exist. Maybe I read it wrong.

If I'm wrong, sorry. That was my main reason for suspecting foul play. Otherwise, yes, the most likely cause is bad shite.

ODin'g on heroin is very easy…. lots of different potencies, inert ingredients used to cut it, etc…. considering they were from port to port, there's really no way they would have had prior knowledge as to which potency of heroin they would have been buying… so that 1 bag could have been relatively as potent as 10 of the shite they were used to ….

OD'ing on opiates causes your brain to basically shut down it's breathing, so you essentially die from respiratory depression/suffocation…

Is it odd that they would both react the same fatal way to the drug if it was just a OD or purity issue?

I have no idea but seems like it would be more likely to affect different people different ways.

The denial and refusal to believe that maybe these dudes just od'd in this thread is awesome.

If they both used the same bad shite, no.

They "were" the ship security!
