I have an alternate theory which is that these people are the Jerry Falwells of secularism and feminism. You see it all over the place - micro-aggresions, safe spaces, kicking people off campuses that you disagree with, the notion that saying unpopular or even mildly controversial things is "violent." Abusing the cultural power you have by shutting others up is natural to the human condition. They just don't see that they're the flip side of the coin from Falwell because it's that type of person they hate.

Eventually, just as religious cultural dominance broke down because it was mocked and scorned, the same thing will happen to these people, because future generations will get tired of it. Someone posted the South Park "Reality" image on this thread. The South Park skewering they got is just the canary in the coal mine.
