Another refrigerator thread...updated question for Napoleon.

Have a GE Profile side by side and when I got back from a few days away noticed that the refrigerator was at 55 degrees and the freezer side was at 33 degrees. Normal is 37 and 0. The back panel of the freezer has frost and searching online tells me there is going to be ice all over the coils behind the panel in the freezer.
Napoleon suggested a few problems might be the cause but seemed certain the control board was the usual problem for a GE in addition to other causes. I replaced the control board a few years ago for a separate issue but the additional diagnostics he mentioned and time to get the parts might push me towards calling a repairman.
Any recs for a good repairman in the Mandeville/Covington area?
***Update 2/18/19...The refrigerator corrected on its own and ran great for the last 10 months. Yesterday I noticed the freezer temp was 16 degrees rather than the usual 0 and items at the bottom began to defrost. The refrigerator side was 36-37. This morning the temps are still 16 and 35-37. Does the fact that it ran well for almost a year rule out the motherboard and rule in something more intermittent? Thanks.

Is your refrigerator running? Well you better go catch it

I asked for recs for a reputable repairman, not whichever names pop up in a search.

Professional appliance repair works that area or Brossard.

If you are handy you can jump the heater.

Are you getting any air flow from the freezer into the refrigerator section? It could be several things like the defrost heater or a thermostat/thermister. When the defrost heater starts going out, it builds ice on the evaporator coil behind the panel in the freezer, and it blocks the flow from freezer to the fridge. The evaporator fan blows the air around your freezer, and a little servo opens the door at the top to let the cold air blow into the fridge. It's just something you can start looking at to start the troubleshooting.

Since your refrigerator is warm and your food will thaw out. Have you tried to put your food in the microwave to stay cold. Reverse psychology it works.

I've replaced the motherboard in the past, fixed the solenoid that opens and closes the ice dispenser door and fiddled with the ice maker, but I don't think I'd know what I was doing with your graph though.
I appreciate your effort once again in a thread like this. You're huge asset to this board.

Thanks for the reply. I figured it was going to be something like you mentioned but it seems there are too many variables for my limited knowledge to investigate and fix in short order.

Is the compressor running? I had a similar problem on my GE Profile side by side, and it was a bad inverter board to the compressor. There was a handy YouTube video that helped me out.
The inverter board is separate from the mother board. The mother board is on the bottom right (looking at the back o the refrigerator) below the freezer. The inverter board (or whatever you call it) is on the left side under the refrigerator side.

I gt you. It's just the first thing I do with a ge. I jump the line to the "Def" and then if my heater comes on, I know the board is bad. I let the heat run while I'm writing up everything. I'll always change the two freezer thermistors with any board change (they cost me $2 each so I don't evn invoice them, just part of the board's mark-up) .
The reason I posted that, is, quite possibly it is the heater or the thermal limiter. (terminator) So if you jumped those two wires, the defrost would come on. If it didnt then you have a bad heater or terminator. If it does come on, you know bad board. If it doesn't then you need a heater or a terminator. Both are between 25-55 depending on model (less online)
(that image is from a site I pay $160/yr to post on, Glad Chicken don't follow that model.. lol )

This is a common issue with inverter boards, BUT you will never have frost build up AND a non functioning compressor.

What if it started working again and the frost is gone?

sticking relay on board, or a thermistor out of range delaying activation of defrost cycle. Rare but anythin can happen.

I forgot to say. I highly highly suggest a data logger to anyone with a lot of food or frozen seafood. They are pretty cheap, and they let you know if your fridge is acting up
I leave them in fridges of customers with phantom problems to diagnose. This is a phantom problem. One that only occurs sometimes. If frost wasn't built up I would say your coils were dirty because that causes overheating.
About $20 for a basic data logger, a lot more if you want real time connection, this is usb read later, which is fine.
