They're going to demo/fill the i-10 tunnels. It's being kept on the down-low.

That means the only free routes across the Mobile River will be the Cochrane Bridge or the Bankhead Tunnel.

shoot the traffic gets just as screwed down there during the summer than it does up on I-10.

getting to the Bankhead is a pain in the arse because of all the traffic lights on Govt.

and people know about the Cochrane Bridge now, that ship sailed.

isn't a big deal any other time of the year it seems like though unless there is a bad wreck on the Bay Way.

Sounds smart. I don’t see why you people are so against toll roads?

Maybe John Bel can buy the Mobile tunnel on the cheap and add it between the 2 bridges in Baton Rougeto help with traffic

I'm for toll roads, but if they attempt to implement it as described - basically having no way to cross without paying a toll - I'm against it and suspect/hope they get put in their place by the feds. One of the entire points of the interstate system is to have a nationwide system of freeways. It's a "free"way for a reason. People should have freedom of travel and charging tolls on an interstate river crossing with no freeway alternative is some mafia extortion bullshite.

LC is about to get a toll bridge over the Calcasieu River. It'll be 1/3rd the height of Golden Gate and 1/4th of the length of Huey P Long Bridge.....happy travels

There will be no toll booths just electronic scanners

I wonder how they are going to handle out of state drivers who may use the bridge just once a year.

And will my GeauxPass work on it?

It is about time that Louisiana start joining the rest of the nation with interoperable toll tags like Texas which can be used in other states.

I'm wondering the same. Are they just gonna send tickets in the mail to every car and big rig that drives down the interstate?

So are you suppose to start holding your breath at the toll booth now or do you still wait until you actually enter the tunnel to begin?

Actually, they are smart. They have an Amazon depot and a WalMart regional Warehouse.

I have a buddy in Mobile who complains his city leaders are a joke. I remind him that they run circles around ours in BR.

Moved to Mobile in November from Bham. Definitely not making OT 350 salary, and moving down here wasn’t ideal, but offer was too good to turn down fresh out of school.

Impression of Mobile so far is that it’s a shite hole. Only people that seem to like it here are people actually born and raised here. Biased old money types. The rest of the non-dindu people working in Mobile live across the bay and think the Mobile way of life can go frick itself.

May just be me, but Mobile Bay basically serves as the Berlin Wall.

That is not why they are called the freeways. They’re called freeways because they are limited access — free flowing.
