Btw a fourth of my pledge class has come out of the closet and is now gay... so most likely your pledge class was cooler than mine.
So do they get expelled or whatever, or is the frat just that much more flamboyant now?

ETA: Don't actually care about the letters, just curious when you consider to be the heyday of LSU Greek life.

For a bunch of guys who carry on about how manly and independent they are are and how "gay" it is to care what other people thing, they sure do care about dudes who decide to join fraternities.
And it’s hilarious and sad they can’t see it

Hazing honestly wasn’t that bad when they just paddled you. Had no threat of dying from that. Kids are just stupid today and want to do everything to the extreme. At least he didn’t OD on that dangerous marijuana though, and was drinking that safe and legal alcohol

I’ve met some good dudes that were in frats. I’ve met a helluva lot more douchebags that were in frats.
Here's a tip, those guys were going to be douches whether in a frat or not. Never ceases to amaze me how many guys on here must have lost a girl to a "frat star" or have to call him Boss. I guarantee you, fraternity people do not think about you guys that couldn't get bids 20 yrs after....

Who exactly can't get a bid at a pay for play institution? I guarantee you that 99% of people don't GAF about the greek system after graduation.

When I rushed there was like 800 kids that rushed and and probably about 700 or so that got bids, so it happens.

If I am not mistaken Delta Chi got in trouble at LSU for hazing problems.

Ehh... he got drunk and unfortunately died. Sucks. But sorry... no one is forcing you to do anything. Just leave. Now, if they don't allow you to leave, then that is an issue.

Drinking age should be 18. Kegs at the frat house. No deaths from drinking beer. Make drinking age 21, can’t drink on campus. Kids guzzling whiskey to get their drunk on. Plenty of deaths. Unintended consequences strikes again.

Did he actually die from alcohol poisoning? Was he forced to imbibe? Was he objecting?

These threads always amplify the many misconceptions non Greeks have about Greek life. They are so far off base with most of their comments

Simply weeding out the weak if you will? Probably get down-voted by Neanderthals who cant grasp concept here as they lay contradictive empathy to such a story. "Poor kid lost his life to drinking. Such a bright future." Poor decisions equate to poor consequences. Not every one can lead a promising life regardless of life status.
In the 17 to 20 year old age group especially among guys, peer pressure is a huge factor in personal behavior, you cannot really say the kid was acting of their own free will, kids of this age range will do things as part of a group that they would never do as a individual acting alone.

can you say the same about the MoH recipients of WWII that were of this same age group?

we had a beer machine in the back room of our house, was a pledge responsibility, hazing? , to keep it stocked, $.25/beer, it was awesome

whoa!! draw the line there, we had a bar in the student union that opened at 8am fricking glorious, learn how to manage your shite or don't

Absolutely the same, that’s why the draft age was 18, males of that age were more likely to sacrifice individual safety for the success of the unit/mission.
