Also, why the Expedition Max? , i prefer the regular Expedition .. i’m pretty sure it would be comparable in space to a minivan, i’m not sure who would want/need an Expedtion Max unless you have like 5 kids.

A regular Expedition is basically useless for cargo with all the rows up. Absolutely no reason to not get the Max. Cost difference is negligible, operating costs are the same, and you have useable cargo volume with all rows up.

I've had a regular Expedition and a Suburban just to validate my opinion

I'd pay the extra 3.5% to remove 9,000 miles off my car

That's 7x Dallas to Miami that you add back to the life of the car

If I had kids I’d go with the minivan every time. That is Alpha AF when you don’t care what others think about what you drive.

Same model year? Same trim package? Both are RWD or 4WD?

I would check carfax and make sure both are from southern states (no snow/salt).

After that, I would look at the condition of the car inside and out. Any bugs or marks on the front grill or radiator tend to indicate highway miles.

Also look at the carfax for regular oil changes, wrecks, frequent maintenance visits to the dealer.

The money is negligible imho, but a Florida car driven mainly on the interstate with 9k more miles is better than a Michigan car driven in the city

I didn't want to drive a minivan...

Made the most economical choice with small kids and carseats and fuel mileage.

Bought minivan.

Love the minivan. Sumbitch is roomy and comfortable and gets 27 mpgs. We go everywhere in it.

Would recommend the Toyota sienna.

Have we really gotten to the point that a 4 year old used car is costing more than 40k?

Sorry thought you said 2016

For families with small children they are the best option hands down. If this is your situation, suck up your pride and do what's best.

Yeah no shite. More important things to worry about than what you think people think about you. Driving a van full of your kids is virile as it gets.

(They’re not thinking about you)

I've always thought that name wrote a check Toyota couldn't cash.

What is is the "forerunner" to? A Toyota I actually want to drive? I'm still waiting.

I don’t think miles are the car killer anymore. Most cars can make 200,000 miles no problem. It is time/old age that kills cars. Plastics deteriorating, electrical issues, etc.
