Another airport related thread: Why doesn’t the govt make everyone qualify for PreCheck?

Wouldn’t this make the security tighter by forcing everyone to qualify for pre-check via a background check?

This would cut down on the riff raff of shady passengers by seeing who has violent/terroristic priors. Anyone who qualifies (most normal people) would get reduced screening, cutting down on security lines.

No more of that shoe-removal, belt-removal, laptop out of the bag bullshite.

Plus, we’d probably eliminate the yokels that try to barge into the cockpit and fight flight attendants.

I’m sure there’s some human rights violation here I’m missing.

Then all the non-poors would have to get Clear.

Pre-check is just a money grab so you don't have to stand in line as long. It is getting overcrowded as well.

Used precheck for the first time last month and it was worth every penny. Should have done it years ago

Yeah.Let's give the government even more power over us.

9/11 is no excuse for the shite they make us go through already.

I think there should definitely be a two-strike system for those flying.

If you are caught at TSA with any liquids over 3.4 ounces two times in a six month period - which slows down everyone in line behind you, regardless, of PreCheck or Non-PreCheck - you should lose your PreCheck status for 4 years (if applicable) AND have to take a mandatory two hour class + pass a test before being allowed to fly again.

I once held up the line because my TWIC card was not a sufficient ID for the TSA.

I would appeal that strike.

I always have trouble with my passport so I sometimes don’t qualify for precheck

So I don’t care either way

Well not everyone would be eligible. Then basically the lines would still be the same. A cluster.

I finally did the Pre check and a few months ago flew out of New Orleans. It took longer than the regular line bc so many damn people in pre check. Also if you had an AmEx membership you could upgrade to some elite status and skip everyone. That’s basically what 30 people did. So it held up the line as well.

Happened to me once. Turned into the "Let me just talk to your supervisor" guy. Didn't like it, but I wasn't about to argue with an idiot.

Yep. Check with your credit card provider and see if they cover Clear. Such a time saver.

All the pre check in the world doesn't cure the typical drunk greyhound bus passenger.

They need to do away with that rule and the belt/shoe removal. Just profile the hadjis, make them do it and let the rest of us regular people fly like we did pre- 9/11.
