Different ballgame than elementary/secondary, largely due to licensing restrictions all the teachers love to put into place on professionals with decades of experience.
For all the complaining primary/secondar teachers do, it's a surprise they don't want to make it less painful for people to teach computer lab, etc a couple hours a week to take the load off.
Now, teaching anything involving non-traditional (ie, adults) students is perfectly respectable and non rage inducing. They guy in that night class needs a degree to get promoted to regional store supervisor, that dude is *paying attention.*

Because your kids are assholes and you choose not to discipline them and you want to chastise us for doing your job. frick y’all for thinking everyone gets an award.

So, Tigerbaby, based on where you're located, disabuse the notion that it's all lily white kids with iPhones in 2rd grade and kids that transferred in from Alief (poor arse minority district adjacent to Sugarland.) Break it down, and tell us what grade you teach, and which parents chastise you the most.
Nearly every kid is spoiled AF, no dispute. But I will put a beer on the line that dealing with the parents is more rage inducing than dealing with their shitty kids wearing earmuffs and spinning in circles in the middle of class.

Teachers bitch about their job because they lack perspective. There are much more difficult and miserable ways to earn 50k a year.

It all depends on where you teach. It can be one of the worst for some

That’s why I rarely bitch about my job. My female colleagues, however…

Some schools do appear to be war zones. The teachers I know who bitch about their job don’t work in those areas. They’ve mostly never had a job other than teaching (teen employment excluded).
I can’t stand anyone who bitches about their job for an extended period of time. Where one works and what they do are completely within their control.

If you teach in Addis, LA, you don't have a lot of options. Tigerbaby, for instance, lives in a county with almost 900k people in it, and three separate school districts in that county, and probably close to hundreds of elementary schools, more than 50 junior high schools, and at *least* 20 high schools. I think there is a fourth county within Sugarland's boundaries, which I'm not accounting for.
Some people have options. Some people choose not to have options, but not being open to any even local change, while living in the same house. Choices matter.

The OT bitches more about teachers than teachers bitch about teaching.
Then, when the poor teachers head off to vacation in Gulf Shores for a week in July they call them trashy.
Teachers just can't win around this joint.

I’m not going to come after you, but if you’ve never done it, how would you know? Plus, to say most people’s are? Are you that guy who switches careers every few years?

My mom taught elementary school for 30 years. Can confirm that a teachers idea of a job and most everyone else are not the same.
