Then you do it, Mr. Helper. I suggest that until YOU DO, then shut your pie hole.

They make the median HOUSEHOLD salary alone in most places while working 2/3's of the year with a gravy schedule and extremely good benefits and retirement. It is disgusting.

They knew what they were signing up for, and union job where the shittiest and the best employees are treated the same, it's a pretty sweet gig.

So, they don't get 2+ months in the summer, a week for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, a week for Easter and whatever other holidays I'm missing?

They spend each and every one of those breaks correcting homework, setting up their classroom and attending seminars.

Annual "let's bitch about teachers bitching thread."

Just STFU. You don't know what you're talking about. Bottom line is some of the public schools in this country are fricking shite. Combined with spineless admin nationwide and a system that rewards attendance above all else, we don't eliminate the problems. Bad kids very much run schools and teachers are helpless. You cannot hit the students, kick them out of class, or even raise your voice back at them without you being the one at fault. Don't give me any shitty reason as to why a teacher cannot feel they have the right to be happy now.

Ive done it. If youre good, its a hard job. If youre lazy, its one of the easiest.

The district you teach has more to do with how much enjoyment you'll get than anything else.

I can understand teachers wanting to vote democrat since that platform always promises to "increase education spending" but it rarely makes its way to the classroom.

It's the same bitching even in a school district that is as much African Black and Asian (tend to have parents that are strict) as it is white. The only difference is the amount of special needs kids that end up in mainstream classrooms. And the teachers get a permanently assigned aid just to deal with that 10% of the class.

Most of the people with whom I work, especially the women, can't enforce discipline in their classrooms, so they are fricking miserable.

Hm, which federal administration was it that wanted fewer disciplinary referrals and suspensions for minority kids? One that started in about 2008, and got crap tons of NEA and NFT money.
