They assumed only water was in the tank. Why in the frick would you assume that?
The explosion sent that tank higher than 6 stories. Jesus.

I have a buddy from my USMC unit that works up there. He had just left the plant for the shutdown when that happened.

IT was foul condensate.. not water. It also went over an 11 story power house building and came down in a pipe rack. Several people lost there lives and a few were injured.

That is interesting though, I call on some GP paper mills and was always told the relief valve failed and sparks got inside the tank
