It's so clear that terms such as white privilege, white fragility, and micro aggressions have come about as just a way of moving the goal posts.

Plus it's a way of looping all whites into a guilty party, even those who do nothing wrong.

If that doesn't show what the new end game is (or lack of end game), I don't know what would. There is none. It's just to keep whites on the hook.

We know there are still problem people out there, on both sides. Let's keep the discussion on them.

It's a tough world with a lot of biases. I'm a man, there are certainly bias' and fears towards me, that while frustrating, I don't let them determine the steps I take to live my life. Not saying I have it as hard as anyone but at some point you reach a state of equilibrium and have to just keep grinding the old fashioned way. Distance yourself from individuals and activities that you think affect your brand.

9 pages. 2nd biggest thread on 1st page. Mostly white board. Yes, this obviously a frivolous, non-issue.

I fully admit that as a white male I have certain inherent privileges in this country that others do not.

My issue is that I have never heard anyone give me a good reason as to why I should feel bad about that. Life isnt fair.

Do half white / half black guys qualify for white privilege?

Asking for my friend Barry.

Wait... So there weren't any successful blacks before segregation?

Wait...so you're stupid enough to think segregation didn't limit the upward mobility of blacks in general?

Is there another class of individual that the government openly discriminates against other than the white male?

I dont have to worry about being seen out walking around the neighborhood or leisurely driving through town at all hours of the night. Old ladies arent calling the cops on me and cops arent lighting me up because "only troublemakers are out this late".

I dont have to watch people regularly be surprised by the fact that I am well spoken.

If I ever got busted for drugs, I would likely face preferential sentencing compared to others of different backgrounds for similar offenses.

I didnt have to work as hard to get through public school because the schools I went to were not traditionally underfunded or intentionally zoned to insure majority low income minority populations.

I have never once worried about walking into an interview and imediately being docked points for my appearence.

I am statistically far less likely to experience inpatient complications and consequences from hospital/physician mistakes as minorities of similar socioeconomic status.

And so on and so forth.

I acknowledge this reality, I just dont give a shite. Its not my fault I was born white in America. I refuse to apologize for the societal advantages my place and time of birth granted me.

On the flip side, you cant walk through the ghetto and not tried to be beat down.

So you have that going for you.

But I have no need or desire to ever walk through the types of true ghettos where that is reality. Moreover, most blacks can't safely walk through black ghettos.

Blacks generally need/desire to drive through affluent areas and attend school and go to the doctor and interview for jobs.

I'm so tired of the race debate. You make you're own path in life and sleep in the bed you make. The company I work for has many high ranking employees of many different ethnicities and they all are very smart and hard working. I would never say that anyone has been given an easier path than another, they all have post graduate degrees and work their arse off day in and day out. I also know people who came from nothing who worked hard and took risks to grow their careers/businesses and are turned out to be very successful. You can't go through life expecting handouts or preferential treatment no matter who you are or where you come from.

Most people don't have nearly as much influence over their outcomes in life as they like to believe. The bootstrap argument rings hollow to many without boots.

The fact is that the vast majority of people in human history have lived and died on a path largely dictated by when, where and to whom they were born. There are millions of rich, lazy idiots and poor, hardworking geniuses all around the world.

Again though, life isnt fair. Some people will never reach their goals and get out of their shitty circumstances no matter how hard they work, and that's just existence. The universe gives zero fricks about anyone's problems.

This is the line of thinking that shows a complete lack of empathy for those who are less privileged. Some people don't have the same resources available to them as those more fortunate than them.

For example, I was lucky enough to go to Catholic school my whole life in New Orleans. Here, that's a huge advantage to someone that had to attend public schools that same time. But that option isn't available to all people.

And what about those people who attend public schools (no matter how bad they are) and lead successful lives? Just luck?
