On the way home the inbound to BTR from DFW is delayed and then the gate breaks so we board from the ground gates in the rain. No ramp crew either so the pilot is loading our bags onto the plane. End up leaving 20ish minutes late and get to DFW.

Was that Sunday the 4th out of Btr? I was on that flight. I talked to crew, the pushback at Btr was inop. We still made it to Dfw early, but there were delays in Dfw.

I made it to MIA within an hour of my scheduled arrival.

PROTIP: Your flight was de facto canceled and they're going to put off officially canceling it as long as possible.
My wife was flying through Charlotte two weeks ago. They got everyone on the flight early so that wasn't an issue. Then the gate departure time goes up and down a few times. It hit 1.5 hours as they were telling everyone that the pilots weren't there (i.e. AA fricked the pooch with crew scheduling). They deplane and it went from a 9:30pm departure to a 5am departure. Those pilots apologized and told everyone that after stopping them off they then had to fly the empty plane to Dallas so they could pick up where they belonged.

I love non-stop SW flights for this very reason.

Add united to the list of things that have gone to shite. Myself and three coworkers flying today. Two of the flights delayed, the 3rd poor bastard had 4 flights canceled, two after the had boarded. Still stuck in departure city.

Yep, that’s the one. Didn’t realize the issue was a broken tug but I’m surprised they don’t have more than one there.

Inbound from DFW was delayed but things really went south once we got to DFW when the rolling delays started. Ended up getting into Austin around midnight.

The head scratcher on my AA trip was the outbound with delays and missed connections and the fact that AA somehow split up our reservations and couldn’t reconnect them.

If I can’t fly Delta I don’t fly. The other airlines are a cluster frick. Wish we had a Steve Jobs in the airline industry.

Maybe I'm wrong on this but there seems to be an advantage to sticking with one airline and building up points with them, especially when you have a branded credit card. I only fly a couple of times a year and I'm about to take my third free roundtrip on Delta in the last 5 or so years.

But I've had the best experience on Delta and I stick with them to build up the points.

edit: I could see if you had a credit card that earns miles that can be used on multiple airlines but I don't really know how that works.

Sounds like you aren’t used to flying. Likely on a regional bird.

AA isn’t all that different than Delta. Most of the time the pro-tip is to understand DFW weather. In late spring or summer never book an afternoon flight. At least 2 or 3 days a week you will get thunderstorms moving through DFW and a majority of the delays are due to lightening because the ground crews can’t be on the tarmac.
