Wow, just throw democracy out the window. This has been the the go to for millennia and there is a good reason why it was always eventually done away with. Having a large population without a peaceful means to change just makes violent change happen more quickly.
"no skin in the game"...hooh boy, every one living in this country has skin in the game. We would all be better off if more people realized this than unconsciously mimicked the talking points of their overlords.

You need to be more specific. Income taxpayers!! Only people that actually PAY taxes! No earned income credit, no one that relies on the taxpayer, no one that gets a "refund" that is more than they actually paid! Half of our population pays ZERO income tax, yet they have the same say. No skin in the game, no vote.

I wouldn’t just assume those taxes go away under any any alternative electorate. Especially since the people with voting power would have zero incentive to do away with them.
