It is true though. They want to be the only distributor of goods in the world, thus Buy n large.
With that being said, they are moving into many other areas outside of selling goods. The control information through the ownership of news outlets and data with AWS.
They are full steam ahead with AI and the only thing to hold back AI will be humans. Thus we need Umbrella level tactics for extinction events.

I've lived in places where this would make sense. But I still wouldn't trust a stranger to come into my house, or a lock that could be hacked. I'd rather just pick up the package on my way home from work.

I should have been more clear. I was just comparing the availability of the information, not equating the person in Eastern Europe stealing your CC info to a criminal that would be stealing your tv.

We had an Amazon driver deliver a package at 8pm last week. He literally drove his late model Mercedes car across my front lawn, right up to the front door. I wasn't home but my wife said the dogs were going nuts and by the time she got to the door he was motioning to the porch where he left our package. He then busted a u-turn across the other side of the lawn to the driveway and left. frick Amazon and their shitty contracted drivers, bring on the drones!
