What? Hell no. That makes no sense at all because youre giving up everything to get to Point B.

Like another poster said, its a massive power grab. The Green New Deal, while completely ridiculous on its own regarding the climate, includes free healthcare for everyone, minimum wage increases, etc. So while we are saying we are saving the world, oh by the way lets add all this other shite along with it

An incredible oversimplification to the point it's worthless.

The Paris Climate Accord was basically just massive a wealth redistribution from rich countries to poor ones.

That's interesting, but I'm not sure 35% really makes it a slam dunk. You could get close to that by just taxing the crap out of non-commercial trucks- which I support.

And I'd be OK with $8 gasoline, too, but electric cars simply don't appeal to me. Seems like you're getting a lot less for your money... my car can *make* electricity, FFS.

There is something to climate change, but no one really wants to do something about it because they're selling fear. Overstating the effects to scare people into one day allowing more govt control of the economy. That's the most important part of climate change

If your vehicle could get 35% better gas mileage, you wouldn't consider that a slam-dunk no-brainer decision?!

And again, that's worst case, 100% of power comes from FF. With a more realistic mix of 65% as currently comes from fossil fuels, the 27% total efficiency figure jumps to over 40%, which is a 100% improvement over ICE engines.

So what it boils down to is, for those who argue that it's basically pointless to drive an EV because the power still comes from fossil fuels, an EV goes twice as far per pound of fossil fuels consumed. Further, as we continue to transition to non-FF energy sources, all of the EVs already on the road automatically get an "upgrade" in this department.

Evidently there are lots of people in this country that do not want the US to be a global leader in energy and transportation technology. It is odd.

I kinda want one. They are perfect around here. More Nissan Leafs on the roadslocally than Maples or Cottonwoods

No roads connecting outside, EV stations everywhere... I might look at one next time I'm buying.

I don't doubt it's probably happening. I do think much more of it is natural than is being reported. I'm pretty skeptical of any laws or regulations that give additional power to the federal government. We are already much more environmentally conscientious than we were 40-50 years ago. It's happening naturally.

Do you have any idea how many people had to protest, or how many got sick or died, and how many people lost property (or the ability to enjoy it), and how many billions have been spent on lawsuits, and how many regulations have been put in place as a result of all that, to make us more environmentally conscientious "naturally"?

Good, at least someone is trying to do something about the crisis.

I applaud the man.

If Ford can't get the electric F-150 to market in the next 3 years, I will strongly consider buying a Rivian. Still not sold on backing them into salt water, but we'll see.
