Amazingly close precipitation prediction from the NWS

This is from the last week or so of forecasted precipitation.
My cynical self thinks that the only reason they posted it, is because it's the first time they got it fairly close. May, just maybe, the NWS is getting more accurate.
Even if they were shut down earlier this year.

You know how hard it is to nail a 7 day precip forecast? I'd be tooting my own horn too.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I think weather services do a pretty good job of telling us what the weather might do. Hellofa lot better than waking up in the morning and looking out the window. Can you imagine a world where we don't have a 3-day forecast? It would totally screw my world up....or at least my weekends.

They nailed this a week out dude. That’s impressive as shite. Look how much you’re weather app changes a week out to get an idea of how hard that is.

We're to the point in which a weather forecast 24 hours out is dead on 98% of the time. The exception would be really difficult stuff to nail like winter precip threshold, or small scale severe weather. Hell, the 3-day forecasts are probably 85% on... 7 day is still tough, so yeah they'll toot their own horn.
