I'm with you. My list of dislikes includes:

1. Halloween
2. Mardi Gras

Bah.

I lived at Marengo and St Charles. Upon learning I lived in N.O., my out of state friends and business clients would frequently ask, "Do you go to Mardi Gras?" My response was always, "No, Mardi Gras comes to me."

I used to live on Milan in between St Charles and Pitt. I rue the day I moved out of that apartment.

I don't hate it, but I can't stand the traffic.

I think the Orleans Parish consolidation has made things worse. People used to stay in their own neighborhoods and not have to drive uptown for the parades, now the whole city has to consolidate on St. Charles.

I could understand why it would be annoying. I live right near the Shark Tank and every time there's a Sharks game or Katy Gaga concert or whatever the traffic and crowds are a pain, and that's light years easier than dealing with Mardi Gras.

There's a whole lot of truth in here - every single thread started is a bunch of old man bitching and moaning. Really starting to become a recognizable poster, which isn't a good thing.

Somebody has to do it. Do you really want every thread to be about bodybuilding supplements, the composition of female squirt, or how your girlfriend is cheating on you? Life ain't all peaches and squirt, brah.

I hate that (most of) my neighborhood parades are on the other side of the river now. That's about it.

I don't get it I guess. if you can't find a way to enjoy the city for the next 2 weeks that's on you. Mardi Gras has become one of those times of year that look forward to the most. Anything that gets the family and friends together is never a bad thing. Having cancer is something to bitch about. Not Mardi Gras.
