Am I the first to bring up ElsaGate, or is this old news?

So Elsa Gate - apparently - is a conspiracy that there are videos uploaded to YouTube that are sick and twisted and geared toward children. The videos often feature pop culture characters (hence the name Elsa Gate) doing pornographic, cruel, and inhumane actions to other characters. Some digging shows that the videos are produced outside of the US but are uploaded daily to YouTube with proper tags that get the videos into YouTube Kids.

Here's a link to one such video titled: "Doc McStuffins Babies Eating Hot Chili in the Home Funny Pranks! Learn Color with Finger Family Song" rom Sun Kids TV. It has 70k views but many other videos are in the hundreds of thousands of views. Some even have over a million views.

I skimmed through some of the video. It shows a boy poisoning his sister's food so that she dies. Then he buries her while screaming in agony. Then she comes back to life and he gets sick and pisses his pants. Then he gets a bath from his mother. Later in the video he's pissing on a grave. I'm not sure what else happens.

There's an entire subreddit dedicated to exposing this stuff.

May this post at least serve as a warning to watch what your kids are watching on YouTube. Even if they start with a video or two that are perfectly fine, the "click next" video could be one of these as they are not filtered out of YouTube Kids AND they are tagged to be included with your normal videos as well.

It takes like 2 seconds to report a video to YouTube. Not sure how these things make it to hundreds of thousands of views unless it's all adults on Reddit and other message boards.

I think this is where the tinfoil hat part comes in. Why won't YouTube take the videos down?

And it wouldn't be adults watching the videos. It would be kids. The videos aren't filtered from the Kids version of YouTube, so even if you're using the app, you're still getting access to these videos. I doubt many five year olds watching a Doc McStuffins video would recognize when to report an inappropriate video. Especially when considering how many parents just hand their kids a tablet and tell them to go away.

i cant believe i did it, but i watched the first 3 minutes of the video. He didnt poison her. He put hot sauce on a burger and she ate it and it was just a funny prank. Then, while eating dessert, the girl choked on a cupcake and fainted. Thinking she was dead, he started to bury her and somehow she coughed up the piece of cupcake that was stuck in her throat. I refused to continue, as the video is 10 minutes long

Did you really watch those 3 minutes and think it was appropriate for toddlers? That's who Doc McStuffins is made for.

Here's a legit article on it all if you don't want to believe me:
YouTube is reportedly pointing kids to thousands of disturbing, violent, and inappropriate videos

quote:

Parents who let their kids watch YouTube unattended might want to pay closer attention to what they're viewing.

YouTube is serving up to kids thousands of disturbing videos, many from obscure producers, that are sprinkled in with kid-friendly ones from well-known studios, according to analysis in a recent Medium post and past reporting from the BBC . At first glance, the inappropriate videos can be hard to distinguish from the benign ones, often involving well-known characters and themes. But they can often be violent or involve abuse to kids, and many appear to be generated automatically and cheaply in an apparent attempt to profit off the sometimes indiscriminate tastes of younger kids.

quote:

But the knockoff video is punctuated with the disturbing sound of a child wailing in the background. When Peppa gets to the dentist's office, he injects her with a green serum and proceeds to pull out all her teeth. She then has to fight a sinister-looking masked monster. Needless to say, the real Peppa Pig's dental visit isn't nearly as horrifying.

That's just one of many disturbing pseudo-Peppa Pig videos on the site, Bridle said.

quote:

Fewer than .005 percent of the videos on YouTube Kids were removed in the last 30 days because they were inappropriate, the company representative told The Times. "We strive to make that fraction even lower," the representative said.

A lot of these videos, like the one in the OP, are made to take advantage of Youtube's monetization algorithms I believe.

There's some weird and I would think disturbing material for younger viewers on some of those, but I've still not seen some of the worse stuff I've heard about. Also, there are tons like the ones in the OP that all look like they are made by the same people or studio.

Yes. I have been dealing with this at my home for over a year now.

You start with searching paw patrol full episodes, and within 2 clicks it's scary killer clowns or just fricked up videos like the one posted in the OP.

You're right. I also wouldn't say it's appropriate for toddlers, but he accurately corrected you on what happens in the video. What you said happened didn't happen.

My BIL is severely autistic and has picked up on some bad stuff watching this type of crap. If it were me I'd just take the phone away completely... It's not fair but it's the only way to keep him insulated from it. He's like a sponge watching that stuff.

I think the monetization is the definite answer. Kids are guaranteed to just click next and click on anything interesting. It's an easy way to get 10k+ views on every video quickly.

I'm not even posting some of the worst ones I've read about. I think YT is starting to crack down on it though as the videos are only staying up for a few weeks.

Only thing I got wrong was that he "poisoned her" and that she "died." I only skimmed it, but the basics were still there. He did put hot sauce on her food - remember who the audience is - and she ended up choking.

He was digging her grave while crying in agony.

He does piss his pants.

He does piss on a grave.

I didn't watch any further.
