You were able to help and you should feel good about it. The worst thing is when you want to help and can't or you're limited.

Look, I've flashed cash in front of a lady looking to score before too. Every once in a while she confuses it for charity with no "strings" attached. Usually I'd set them straight, but if she had two children that popped out from the side the car, I'd probably be a little embarrassed in the moment and let her keep it to. So I think you did good OP.
In all seriousness, there's nothing soft about helping people. It's just a sad state when so many scam people that you can't trust.

Let us know if she calls your buddy for a job. If she does then everything she told you was true.

Just do the deed and reap the benefits of the ramifications of your good deed. No need to run and tell everyone about it.

You really need to write a paper about the good deed you did? I applaud your actions, but do you really need to run to a message board and let everyone know how "soft" you've become.

Why post it? Because maybe it would inspire someone else to be kind to someone down on their luck. Was it a scam? idk, but maybe the OP has made someone think about helping others in need.
Thanks, Marine.

IMO your extra mile random act of kindness will do more to build bridges between people than any lifetime of legislation and litigation ever could.
Good job, man! You're a credit to our human race.

No.
He wasn't forced by the government to do this. This is the very essence of real, true, charity. And instead of the Federal government forcing him to pay extra taxes, notice, she didn't take the EBT or food stamps or whatever. She didn't even ASK. THIS is the way it should be, handling the matter not just on the local, political level, but on the local, person-to-person level.
Well done, sir.
