Sorry, the President wants you to power your home with oil.

I got solar panels when the state and fed were subsidizing it. Thanks everyone.

Go look up subsidies to oil companies. Then look up subsidies to solar.

The Obama administration was most certainly picking winners and losers in the energy market.

And the one he picked still can't survive without massive government subsidies.

Solar is too pricey right now to justify getting it unless you get huge tax credits / subsidies like LA used to do. Cheaper and more efficient solar panel is being developed, so I'll just wait til that happens.

I worked in solar for a few years. If the government was still subsidizing it, I’d say go ahead you can’t lose.

Now? I’m really not so sure. It would completely depend on your return on investment. Ask the company what it’s going to cost and to give you a breakdown of specifically when you would break even. Also, ask how long they warranty and ensure the panels and the installation, If they can’t answer those questions then you should walk away.

We don't know which state your home sits, but, unless the Govt subsidizes your investment, there's no way that it would be worth your money to do it all yourself.

Per the reps breakdown we are looking at 22 panels on back of roof. @ 43K. Gov subsidies @ $10K, State @ 7K. Could pay off but loan up to 15 yr if needed. 25 yr warranty.

Are better/more efficient panels on the horizon? Danger of Gov /state sudsidies being cut in near future?(South Carolina)

(edit for "I've seen better panels on the quad" post I'm sure is coming)

3,100 sq ft FWIW
