Such a fricking dumbass. Tragic in the end, but looks like it was justified. Convicted felon with a gun resisting arrest? I'm sorry but that is grounds to fire if they feel threatened

Murder right there. Yelling he had a gun gives the cop a cover for the kill. Its the same when the beat the hell outta a handcuffed person for resisting arrest by screaming stop resisting. Cops should be put under the jail

He has been selling cd's in fromt of that store for years. He was a convicted felon and sold cd's for a living and carried a gun so ge wouldn't get robbed because he always had cash on him. I've passed by there plenty of times and saw him out there.
Damn. Bought a gun to protect himself and having it on him likely resulted in his death.

Yeah man. They should have let the guy get off a few shots first. If the dude would have let them arrest him like a normal fricking human being then he would still be alive. The shooting is completely justified

Well. He did have a gun. So...

The original call stated he was wielding a gun. The cop knew before he got there it was highly likely he had a gun. I'm not saying this was a cop taking an opportunity, but the whole story doesn't add up.

Life has a sick sense of irony sometimes. Damned if you do and damned if you don't

Prayers sent for those of you in BR. I hope they don't riot.

Why fight police when you are being arrested?
Dumbassess.
Fight them in the courts afterwards.

The cops responded to a call about this guy who fit the description and was described as pointing a gun at people to leave him alone to his CD selling. So yes they assumed he had a gun. But they always do. Which is why the confrontation likely started. They had probable cause and wanted to search him. If the gun, I'm assuming, is possessed illegally, the guy knows he's headed back to jail for a long while since he's already a convicted felon for close to the same crime.

Except when they find a gun on him afterward.
Buried in his pocket and not going for it, according to the eyewitness

At least he wasn't sitting at home living off food stamps. Wouldn't you rather him sell burnt cd's than live off of your tax dollars?

Not going for it by one account that already has holes and bias.

If that's the case, then why didn't they go in guns-drawn?
We're they giving him the benefit of the doubt b/c it was an unconfirmed anonymous tip?
There so many variables we don't know.

I'm not vouching for every single person that gets shot by the police some of them deserve it if they put the cops life in danger. But I just don't see how they can't take down and disarm one guy.

Some questions for the board.
If the guy has the gun in his pocket and never actually gets it out but is trying to grab it during the struggle. Is that grounds for the officers to shoot him?
Is it possible one of the officers was able to determine the presence of a gun during the physical struggle even though it may have still been in the guys pocket?
I see a lot of posters suggesting this is murder. Do you believe a suspect has to have a gun in hand and be pointing it at an officer before the officer can shoot?

He was in an assisted living center. Could have still been on food stamps.
