I can say this emphatically, tackling a presumably armed man is not protocol
Almost any action they take will be questioned.
They don't go for the tackle with an opening and he does something crazy then it's why didn't they take action sooner.. Then again there's often situations that are delayed standoffs.. They could have kept talking it out with guns drawn on him if needed.. Not sure how effective it would have been.
But I admit I do question the tackle there. Perhaps bark out commands with warnings, he doesn't comply.. then shoot him once.. Then see where it goes from there.. but then people will cry they shot him just standing there too. Tell the man to get on his knees and hands behind his back.. He's obvious not going to respond. I just don't get the tackle. I would have rather they went after him together and pushed him against the car and cuffed his hands.. but the guy is a large man.. so who knows.
It's all easier said than done when the circumstances come.. this is why they train though..
I just hate when they shoot a guy several times in a situation that may not be needed.. I don't know that it was necessary and at least give the man a chance to survive.
Situations like this almost make police beatings a better option than such a fatal one. (I'm not really being serious) I'm just at a loss, I hate to see this for everyone involved.

Yeah except for the whole post I was responding to and quoted in my post. You serious Clark?
No, you did not "anyone recommending that the cops roll up with guns already drawn. By the way, you do realize that the police do draw their guns on armed and unarmed subjects all the time, don't you.
IMO, drawing guns on a presumably armed suspect, after he would not comply and was unaffected by tasers, is a safer option then tackling this presumably armed man. If your opinion is that tackling him is safer, we will just agree to disagree he and I will acvept it as your opinion.

Your fingers have to be tired from typing the same thing over and over again for the past 12 hours

The difference between the two was the kid had a gun. Btw I actually think the kid one was bad. But not by the guy that pulled the trigger, but by the cop driving the car that put the officer in the passenger seat in a bad spot.

I agree re beatings, and also not serious.

As has been posted ad nauseum, shoot to kill is the policy. No room for error.

I'm not really sure how to feel about that video, but that was disturbing.

They are trained to attempt to apprehend the suspect without using lethal force if given the opportunity. The tackling officer saw an opportunity, they just weren't able to control him quick enough.
If that is the case we've had LEOs like FelicianaTigerFan arguing that restraining a suspect of his size is incredibly difficult in these circumstances. I'm to trying to search for fault in the officers' actions, but that is a legitimate question. If things were at a 10 at the beginning of the first video, the tackle took things to 100. Perhaps drawing their weapons take things to 100 too, and there are pros and cons to each decision, but others have acted like it is cut and dry and it is anything but.

God damn the BR Police
Now the losers are protesting at the Ferguson PD, blocking the street again. And they said they will protest every night in support of BR and Alton.

They shot a kid on a playground after rolling up in their vehicle guns drawn.
They call this a strawman. Well done.

They did know he was armed, or at least they should have.
Again, are you saying they should have approached him with guns drawn? Saying they knew? What a joke. Shows clearly your bias. The store owner has even gone on record as saying that this guy WASN'T the suspect. But cops should have known he was?
Come on.
