My late wife tried everything including the cutting edge immunotherapies. Sadly she did not make it. Lived 12 years with breast cancer. I will say she had a very good quality of life though. Her end was quick and she ran 3 miles like she always did probably 4-6 weeks before she passed.

Sorry for your loss. Glad to hear yall fought it to the bitter end and she at least had a good quality of life before that.

If there was an alternative Steve Jobs probably would’ve used it.

I tried the Rick Simpson's oil. Still had to get a bunch of organs removed and it came back anyway.

I was lit for 90 days though.

Lost my father, mother and older sister to lung, liver and breast cancer. My other sister and I had a long talk with the oncologist and he told us that cancer attacks weak cells the fastest. So the best defense is to have a strong, healthy body going in. Those that are obese, eat poorly, smoke heavily / for a long, are in poor overall shape are starting off losing the battle to begin with. If you need a scare to straighten up, go walk in any radiologist's office. Look at all those old people. They are not all old. They are all sick

Anyone have any opinions or experience with alternative forms of cancer treatment? I’ve always had a hard time believing that the best way to fight a disease is to literally poison your body with chemotherapy, etc...

If you want to see how “alternative” cancer treatments work versus modern medicine simply look at cancer survival rates from before we had modern cancer treatments to now. Here, I’ll help get you started.

People who pedal “alternative treatments” as some magical cure should be taken out in a field and shot.

If there was some magical herb or pill, big pharmaceutical companies would’ve patented it by now.

Saw a buddy’s mom buy into that mumbo jumbo bullshite instead of chemo (that she would’ve likely lived through) and he lost her six months later.

The thread should probably separate “alternative” (snake oil scammed on sick people) from non US FDA approved treatments. Know a guy, multi millionaire, who had his wife diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and given less than a year. He flew her to Russia and paid tons of cash for some gene therapy thing (not sure of the details) that has her alive years later. The treatment is not available in the US or EU.

Chemo/radiation is effective if the patient is younger and healthy and the cancer is caught early. Older people and those in poor health to begin with don’t handle treatment well. Thus the “chemo killing them”. And if the cancer has already spread or is in a late stage, not much of anything is going to help.

To be clear, this is more along the lines of what I was hoping for when I started this thread. I didn’t mean seeing an African witch doctor or use a gallon of essential oils to treat the ailment; I meant non-FDA approved methods, etc.

Don’t know what treatment Alex Trebek had but it beat stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Maybe he’s friends with Joe Biden.

That's really a stupid statement. I know 3 people who beat cancer by using alternative methods. I know one man who died from trying to only use alternative methods instead on trying something else when the alternative wasn't working. So, you're wrong in that blanket statement.

Keto diet

I haven't investigated a ton, but there is at least a faction of the cancer treatment community that believes cancer is a metabolic disease and that a true medical ketogenic diet (80% fat intake, not just low carb) works very well in conjunction with chemo and traditional treatments. General principle is, fast growing cancer cells need glycogen as a fuel source, while healthy cells can survive off ketones. So cutting off glycogen limits the ability of cancer cells to replicate.

It is worth investigating if a loved one has cancer. A good starting off point is any podcast with Dom D'agostino and a book titled cancer is a metabolic disease.

My uncle spent thousands of dollars on juice from some sort of Himalayan berry that was touted as an alternative treatment. He died of cancer on the schedule expected by the doctors.

It was his money to waste, people with terminal illness will try desperate things.

The people marketing the alternative treatment crap are the lowest form of scum.

You are correct sir.

Very good results with starving the cancer of energy by lowering sugar and carbs.

My wife is doing the same with almost eliminating sugars and carbs. On chemo now, Tagrisso, fighting metastatic non small cell lung cancer. Immuno drug worked for several months then zap. This chemo has worked over a year and we are hoping forever. She works out five days a week like she has for the last forty five years and has always watched what she ate and drank.
On a scary note, our oncologists expect the rate of cancer patients to increase over forty percent over the next ten years. They say the number of younger patients, 20s and 30s is increasing.

Chemo has come a long way, as you know.

Also, with Chemo Cold Caps and other similar therapies, hair loss is not a given
