Ask Steve Jobs how it went for him.

There was very little that was alternative about the treatment Jobs underwent. He had islet cell carcinoma of the pancreas, a less common type of pancreatic cancer. He had a "Whipple procedure" which is the usual surgical procedure used to treat pancreatic cancer 9 months after diagnosis, and later possibly a liver transplant. This type of tumor is slow growing and delaying surgery 9 months likely had no effect on the number of years he survived. Median survival for this type of cancer was five years from diagnosis, Jobs lived for eight.

"I believe that he must have really refocused his heath practices," through changes in diet and exercise, said Dr. Ashwin Mehta, an assistant professor and medical director of integrative medicine at the University of Miami's Sylvester Cancer Center. "To do as well as he did, he must have done a lot of things right," Mehta said.

On a scary note, our oncologists expect the rate of cancer patients to increase over forty percent over the next ten years. They say the number of younger patients, 20s and 30s is increasing.

It is crazy. I don’t know if it’s the pollution or hormones in the food or obesity or what, but so much cancer. Both my parents, my uncle, my grandma... my wife and I have eliminated most carbs and all sugar and we feel good. Not sure if that’ll really prevent cancer but it can’t hurt.

I’ve always had a hard time believing that the best way to fight a disease is to literally poison your body with chemotherapy, etc...

You're not alone...initial inroads were made primarily with childhood leukemia by courageous researchers and clinicians like Don Pinkel and Jay Freirach who figured out that literally poisoning kids with combination chemo to the point of near death was the way to a cure. The were mocked and derided every step of the way.

The establishment at the time took the view that the kids were gonna die, why put them through such an ordeal. Luckily for untold thousands they persisted, and proved that that is a way to cure some cancers.

If it weren't the best option, do you not think the medical field would be all up on alternative treatments? Seems slightly counterintuitive to not offer the best means of survival to paying customers.

I’ve read that about keto. My dad has cancer but the thought of any diet, even now, is unfathomable for him. Some people would literally prefer death over diet restrictions.
