I get a telemarketer call nearly every day telling me that the government is forgiving student loan debts. I always hang up on them. 2 points I'll make that will sound like brags, but they're not. 1) I make too much money (not a lot, just over the limit for forgiveness im sure) and 2) why would I ask tax payers to pay off a loan that I took out? It's my responsibility.

I get those calls too. Same thing for me. They programs want people who aren't making payments. Those programs aee for the students who chosed an education with poor job prospects. I know a guy who got his degree in humanities and use to tell me that its almost a tradition to default on student loans.

I make points, you can't contend them. There is zero irony, because I'm actively making you look more stupid with things you can't even bother to comment on.

Let me ask you one simple question...

Why do colleges charge as much as they do?

I busted my arse to pay back my student loans, and worked my way through college to do so. I even co-oped every other semester in order to save money and get experience. Now your telling me that I also have to pay back the loans for other people, many of whom didn't put in the effort that I did? Where's my f'in exemption?

The worst thing Obama's Gov't did imho was cutting the lifetime student aid down from 18 semesters to 12.

It was tacked onto the back of a budget bill, never talked about, never given a minute of press and snuck into law.

Thousands and thousands of students nearing graduation or going back to school after losing their manufacturing jobs got cut down right at the knees with zero notice.

Most did not find out about losing their student-aid until after being granted aid, enrolling and beginning the first weeks of classes and were then told that would no longer be eligible for any kind of student aid any longer.

such a slimy way to do people.

well people are still taking on the debt to attend college so why wouldn't they keep increasing tuition

because it is a bubble that will eventually burst, and I am of the opinion that academic institutions should not operate like a buy here pay here used car dealership.

Because liberals/progressives aren't going to gut the golden goose. Big Education is their most fertile training ground. It is untouchable to Democrats. It's a bigger scam than "big" anything else too.

Yea, a-hole. Your generation. I'll lump you in to yours just like you've been doing to anyone from mine. Unlike you, I can be consistent.

ETA: Who do you think increased the costs of school? Millennials?

My parents saved for my education. I graduated with zero debt. Spending money was up to me to find, so I learned how to work and budget my time in order to have cool stuff.

I don't think you even know what generation I'm from.

Did they start it? No. But they sure were more than willing (and stupid) enough to take out loans and try to pay for it.

Socialization and monopolization of an entire US industry by a debtor that can't be discharged.

and what preceded the jump in student loans? the 2008 recession.

A big % of our population went back to school when their jobs evaporated.
