Probably just emptying the magazine
The caliber would be a big clue combined with the assumption of emptying the magazine. Using that as an assumption, the model wouldn’t be difficult to determine.
Statistically if it’s a 9mm, it’s could be a glock 19
If a .380, a bodyguard
If ..22, then a Ruger LCP II 22LR
ETA: Nevermind, just heard that audio recording, it was single burst not full auto sound.

Whoever shot her wanted her dead. That area is a an area where someone can get shot for no reason, which also makes it a good area for someone targeting someone to shoot them at.
You can't rule anything out at this point. But if someone she knew was targeting her that should be easier to solve than if it was a random shooting.

I remember about 10 years ago there was a horrific beating of a man at a gas station of a white man by a black man who did it because he was white and “in the wrong neighborhood”. It was on Easter or Mother’s Day if I recall. I think it was up Nicholson.

The vast majority of you have no idea how these criminals operate in real life, and that’s a good thing. You thankfully haven’t dealt with them before. It almost certainly wasn’t a gang initiation or planned ambush. That requires some level of planning and patience.
There was not some wild, well constructed plan. It was likely as simple as she didn’t do what he/they said, shots fired because no impulse control, then “oh frick she’s dead I gotta run.” Nobody in that area at 2AM is a criminal mastermind.
I know The People will disagree, but my theory is failed carjacking. She resisted, a juvenile freaked out and opened fire, realized he was fricked and fled on foot.
My backup theory is thrill killing.

There is about a 99.9% chance the gun used was stolen. However, I highly doubt the suspect intended to use it. It’s typically a scare tactic that works well. She probably didn’t comply and the suspect freaked out.

one thought from hearing the audio. If the screeching tires are the perpatrator then he shot her from his car b/c the screech was too quick for him the get in the car and then drive away.

SIAP but I found this clip that shows a different angle of her car and it briefly shows where some of the shell casings were found. Most of them look to be in the median and her car is partially on the curb.
