It's crazy that they are apparently so certain of his identity and his demise, and these stories are leaked into public domain. Yet they have never leaked the name of the POS though who murdered her. There's knowing and proving, and they likely can't prove it.
They certainly can't release a suspect's name without the proper evidence.

I think BRPD is dysfunctional, corrupt, incompetent, and understaffed. Her race only provides cover for their utter failure at executing their duty to prevent or solve crimes.

Sometimes terrible situations have no solution.
Many people just can't accept the randomness of violence and chaos in life because it disrupts their entire worldview. They seek order when it's not possible, and it leads to really irrational responses. The Charlotte stabber incident is causing similar emotional-irrational reactions.

The police know what happened. They apparently don't know who did it, but they know what transpired. There is no mystery here. She stopped at a train crossing and was murdered. That is not in doubt or in question.
