Um, pot calling the kettle black?

Those who can’t afford to pay their way out of felonies...

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has adaily mugshots section with the ability for the pubic to vote for the Mugshot of the Day. Usually ends up being a hot chick with a DUI or a meh chick busted for prostitution.

Always wondered about the legality/ethical implications, but still voted

I don't condone their practices but there's no way these charges stick

The newspaper posts all arrest reports, you're going to be listed unless you have some pull/clout/money to prevent it

These guys are literally doing the same thing

I'm not so sure that's The Advocate's motivation

They know people will click on their website to see who they know got arrested. All about getting more clicks

This is what pisses me off about The Advocate posting every DUI arrest in the parish.
But how will a few dozen of BR's DUI defense lawyers find you and send you a letter proposing to represent you if not for The Advocate telling them your information?

Buddy of mine is actually a DUI lawyer, and he got popped on a bullshite DUI a couple of years ago. Even though he's a well-known criminal defense lawyer in EBR, he still got multiple letters from various other lawyers in the area proposing to represent him.

Hot Springs Village, AR, has a weekly "Police Report" that has grown to a full page usually. They report every CALL to the Sheriff there.

HSV is the largest gated community in the nation, mostly old retirees from around the country. You see a lot of Yankees and Cali's who have zero social skills calling in on their neighbors like to a POA or something (reports of un-id'd guy cutting fallen trees, investigation reveals employee cleaning up storm damage stuff with a village truck nearby ). Tons of auto collisions. Lots of struck deer and in the last year loads of loose dog/cat problems.

Then there's the calls about fools picking up unknowns and then unable to get them out of the house. A lot of stolen cars that turn out to be kids borrowed, failed to return on time...cuz the kid in jail for drug/burglary charges w/car impounded

I knew someone who got popped for DWI in Caddo Parish, bonded out immediately, and their information never made it onto the jail website. But somehow the mugshot boys got hold of it.

Caddo sheriff site shows only inmates in jail at the moment. If you book, bond and leave, your pic probably never goes on the jail site.

But the booking info and mugshot are public record. So it may well show up in The Inquisitor, KTBS.com, etc. that publish them.

People on here don’t understand the full story.

They say they’ll take it down if you can provide documentation saying charges were dropped or expunged, but they don’t. They’ll charge people money and still not take it down. They’ll also get charges completely wrong and not take it down.

There were several sites that did this and if you googled my name a decade later my mugshot for a high school house party still popped up despite proving my charges were expunged by the court. I just said frick it and paid and 1 year later it came off mugshots.com.

I had a nosy coworker who googled everyone in the office and find it before it came down.

Was wondering what specific law was broken?

There are cases where people were arrested for serious things like child molestation that turned out to be completely false, sometimes even complete mistaken identity on part of the police, and the mugshots remained on those sites.

It ruins lives.

It was like $250

ETA:

For more serious charges, they raised the price. There are cases of people being wrongly accused and arrested of heinous crimes like forcible rape that were being extorted by these sites for thousands of dollars despite them proving their innocence and the legal system declaring their innocence.
