Given hundreds of trillions of stars in the Universe, I can't imagine our sort-of intelligent life would not arise many times.
However, Alien's visiting here given the distances seems to be a different story.
If the US government does have crashed alien craft, of course they were keep it top secret. Such advanced tech would be kept a secret for national security reasons.

Why assume a more intelligent civilization does not have a more advanced understanding of physics?
They (assuming they are ok with this preferred pronoun) may have no issue with distance or energy. The real aliens may never even need to set foot (or whatever the call it) here if they can simply 3-D print disposable new life forms to do their dirty work remotely.

They could encounter unexpected events. They may be advanced but not infallible.

Unfortunately for many of us, it’s way beyond our ability to believe or disbelieve. I believe or pretty much know God and Jesus exist because of my religion and I have interacted with them and their agents etc.
With “the others” as we used to call them or NHI now or aliens as you call them, (which we avoid as to not state an source of origin as they can be extra-terrestrial, extra-dimensional, or inter-terrestrial) just like Robert Bigelow, I know that they exist, and not just one group or species. They have been here for probably as long as we have. It’s not really a big secret among the agencies etc.
You need to learn to deal with it, the slow disclosure is occurring for a reason.
Soon enough you will have no choice and you guys can start bitching about how much taxes the others pay, or why they are a threat to the human way of life, or trying to establish a new World Order etc. (That’s if they don’t just wash their hands of us and wipe us out again)

God and the Christianity are the existence of the others are not mutually exclusive as confirmed by recent Catholic Church doctrine.
