A New Mexico man was arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend and threatening to kill her — after Amazon’s Alexa called police, authorities said.

Eduardo Barros, 28, became angered with his unidentified girlfriend while house-sitting in Tijeras, about 15 miles east of Albuquerque, and the dispute suddenly turned physical on July 2, authorities said.

During the assault, Barros waved a gun and threatened to kill the woman before he allegedly asked: “Did you call the sheriffs?”

The question was inadvertently picked up by the smart speaker and the voice-powered virtual assistant recognized the phrase as a command — prompting it to call 911, Bernallillo County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Felicia Romero confirmed to The Post on Monday.

It’s unclear whether the speaker was connected to an Amazon Echo or Echo Dot device, but the Alexa virtual assistant was connected to a landline in the home, Romero said.

Alexa hears it ALL, the fiancé unplugs it after using it usually for music when she's cooking. Ask Alexa if she works for the NSA...

I don't think Alexa calling 911 in response to "no no no it's too small" is a skill.

How does Alexa make phone calls? What happens when the person on the other and answers? Are they going to have a conversation with Alexa's robot voice?

How does it work?

It can call out through your wifi/Internet but not a land line. As far as I know it can only call people in your phone contacts and that person must also have an Echo. This story is fishy.

If you get down to it, there isn't anything of interest being said in my house.

I bought an Echo today but had buyers remorse and cancelled it. I don't want that thing listening to me banging Mrs. Perm

I don't have Alexa. I have Bubba. Whenever Bubba hears female complaining in the house he resets all kitchen appliances to over heat, makes washer dryers take 5 hours each, shorts out hair dryers, keeps the TV on ESPN and SEC Network at the same time (He's clever like that)regardless of what the remote says do, reverses the A.C. thermostat, hot and cold water reverse, gas logs light up, sprinkler system goes nuclear, burglar alarm sounds every 47 minutes. Bubba also sends cat text messages and a phone call of your choice to her phone number as often as needed. Bubba should be on market in 12-18 mts.
