I'll bookmark this for when you take the exact opposite position in any Trump family member's defamation suit against any number of media outlets for their Russian collusion lies.

Also I really wonder how much money Alex has and what his strategy was here. Why go on his show and call a key witness “slow”. And then also criticize the jury as “blue collar.” It seems like he’s just betting on himself in the future to be able to recover the money lost in lieu of trying to reduce the amount he was given to pay. Which maybe it wasn’t stupid bc he knew he was effed anyway but damn. Seems like he did no damage control other than admitting it was a real event(which he has done for years)

I don't get this. This isn't slander or libel. If someone saying mean things or hurting someone's feelings is the standard, holy frick stick every media entity is about to go bankrupt.

Dude admitted in court it’s all an act and his knights will still show up and defend him.

You mean every marketing ever? This is irrelevant.

Is that what they were sued for then? That's actionable. Saying mean things isn't. Directly harassing people is. This is a very bad standard.

When you can find time to kill, you should watch his 5+ hour appearance w/ Rogan. They were drinking and smoking (something), and it gives the opportunity to see the gears turning in his weird stream of conscious thought process - as opposed to edited clips or scripted reads.
I really don't think he has any grand strategy; he just has the energy to say things emphatically when he's up. There's a little glimmer of truth behind the old joke about Alex Jones being Bill Hicks' second life.

Some of that is him just trying to redirect by saying a bunch of stuff really fast and emphatically. One can’t do that in a court of law and has to actually address the specific issue. I don’t think this is necessarily fair and I still think Alex is hilarious under the right context but damn, this whole thing doesn’t show him in a great light.

Not at all comparing the two, but one can’t just say whatever without any consequences. Charles Manson never actually laid a hand on anyone, yet he is known as a mass murderer. Mafia bosses never actually did hits themselves so were protected until RICO. Again this isn’t that, but also this is a civil not criminal trial. Standard is way lower, and they can point to him profiting off of the things said. If it were a criminal trial I would defend him stridently.

Punitive damages over 40 mil , he’s fricked.

Im not sure you understand how advertising works. There is a youtuber. A black dude who calls himself No Life Shaq. He makes reaction videos. He listens to different music, different comedians and reacts to it.
One episode he gave a run down of how things work. He starts by saying how you have to first put out as many videos as possible about things you can hastag that are of interest to a lot of people. For obvious reasons, so that it comes up when people search those topics. He said the first check he got from youtube, which I think came 7 or 8 months into doing the videos was $25k.
That month he had posted about topics that attracted the most views to his videos. He showed his analytics and everything.
A youtuber only 8 months in doesn't have nearly the established fanbase that Alex Jones has. Not even close. So when you talk about a subject and then you see that subject gets searched the most and brings the most people to your channel.. You know what? You keep talking about. But if all you have is the same information everyone else has, you have to make up your own information.
So when someone is feeding information that no one else is feeding that's going to attract all the people who have interest in that topic. Alex Jones don't give a frick if people love or hate him, because they are of the same value to him.
There is a lot of money to be made in half truths and bullshite information. To some degree all news sources do this because.. Well, they want to maximize profits.
Its the reason it cost over $1M for 30 seconds of commercial time during the Super Bowl. More people watch the Super Bowl than anything else.
And someone like Alex Jones, he can't make up shite about everything, but he only has to be right half the time for people to "find him creditable". The vitamin and diet drugs is part of advertising that comes with how many eyes will see those products. Its spreading bullshite about Sandy Hook that brings in the viewers and because that brings in a high volume of viewers it appeals to companies that want to advertise their products.
Advertising is everything. Companies would sell nearly the amount of products without advertising.
