Just saw this on the NOLA Advocate site.
I wonder if they will retire the "Win-Win Twins"?

Odd. Winn Dixie is a declining company...but I guess ALDI wants them for their distribution network?
Didn't expect that. I figured Publix or Kroger would be more likely to make something like that work.

They have a lot of locations that are pretty prime and a vast distribution network across the South.

3 are about to pop up in Baton Rouge all at once like your ex girlfriend's cold sores. They are building new ones from the ground up on Siegen Lane, O'Neal Lane, and Sullivan Rd. I could see them doing well with stores Brusly, Walker, and Gonzales too. I suspect that ALDI actually will be going in that redeveloped strip mall at Burnside/Airline in Ascension.
What Baton Rouge needs another of more than ALDI is a Trader Joes which is owned by the same company. I don't like shopping there, but clearly you people do because the one on Perkins is stupid busy most of the time and parking is absolute bitch. Another one in northern Ascension or somewhere in the SE part of EBR would do very well.
Honestly when it comes to quality indie grocers....Baton Rouge is stacked. I can see why Winn Dixie struggled in that market and Rouses had to buy LeBlancs to make inroads there. Surprised Albertsons on College and Old Hammond are are hanging on. Calandro's, Alexanders, Robert Fresh Market, and Oak Point have all historically done very well. Even Hi Nabor has been doing well for 70 years now, and one of them is in a sketchy area.
It's too bad that Rouses ran the old LeBlanc's stores into the ground.

Went to the one in Kenner and wasn't impressed. I don't see why it gets so much excitement. Maybe I missed something.

Damn. I gotta have a quarter every time I go to Winn Dixie now too?

Because a box of cereal is $2.

Amazing how just a few days ago someone here said how has Winn Dixie not been renamed yet. Looks like you’ll get your wish.

It’s a bummer. Winn Dixie always offers the highest value with beef. They have the highest quality, and they have the best specials. I’d be surprised, if that would remain the case going forward.
The consolidation of these large companies is becoming out of control. The rich are getting richer, and the consumer loses.

Good. Maybe they can finally challenge Publix.
Publix has turned into an overpriced joke of a store. Winn-Dixie quality with Whole Foods prices.
