That's the chink in the armor on both sides. Lots of assuming and believing what the guy said. I'm just having fun. I would call my DIL )a lawyer) for advice if I really cared.

if that vehicles is in a company parking lot - the owner of the parking lot is in control - he was given the option of removing the flag and refused - da got the ax.

Thanks for setting this straight.

Now I need to get busy firing off a memo to have all employees of mine remove bumper stickers from their vehicles promoting Obama for President, Hillary for President, anything Pro-Choice, or any other display on a vehicle I don't agree with. My property, my choice. Don't like it, seek employment elsewhere.

Not in your case. I was meeting what came out of your arse with equal senselessness to show what senselessness comes out of your arse.

Bye for now. See you in another thread.

In fact, I am pro-America, no foreign cars are allowed on my business property. Employees are only allowed to park vehicles made by Ford, Chrysler, or GM on my lot. Now logos promoting foreign vehicles. My business, my rules.

No because it's against the law to discriminate based on political beliefs. It would be ok to tell them that it's 2015 though.

The Confederate flag debate crossed the realm of being a political debate a long time ago. Really, displaying something either in support or opposition to it is not much different than being pro-life or pro-choice.

As an employee of a company....you're a representative of that company.

So, if another company tells its employees to put a Confederate flag bumper sticker on their cars or be fired, you'd be O.K. with that too?

Does not equal this

You are probably well within your right to demand that your employees refrain from political activity on company grounds which could include bumper stickers.

Private company. Don't care.

Actually, it might matter.

At will employees can be fired for any reason not prohibited by law/statute. To the extent that freedom of speech is protected from such adverse employer action in the State of Alabama, there could be a cause of action.

Wouldn't the state have too side with the fired worker, considering it's willing to send it's workers home for a day to celebrate the banner that got him fired? What a conundrum .

I wish Ford and GM were as pro- American as you are. They are making vehicles in Canada and Mexico.

Chrysler is own by a fricking Italian company.

Looking at your examples, both are a form of political speech. Legally speaking, no, I don't see the difference.

I would need to check but I believe you may be right that, as an employer, I can restrict political activity from my property. Then the question becomes was there a policy currently in place? Where there other vehicles in the lot that displayed other political messages? If so, why was my client singled out and terminated?
