No, I think it’s backwards to pass a law that is intentionally hateful towards children without taking any time to try and understand the issue at hand. But it’s an election year and that’s the political climate at this time, and by god we’re not going to let another state out-ignorant us.
You're right that the legislature only did this because it's an election year. That's my only problem with it. They should have done this years ago.
ETA: I hope Ivy loses the election even with the election-year stuff.

The irony being that trans ideology is ant-gay and anti-lesbian. Adding the T to LGB is a total oxymoron. Trans ideology is not compatible with these other groups.

By all means, go somewhere that doesn't pass laws that are intentionally hateful towards children. I think the rest of the state, and your family, would be happier if you weren't subjected to such terrible ignorance and bigotry.

Don’t hear too many screwing your cousin jokes about the Northeast for example
I know have known one couple in my entire life who are first cousins and are in the process of getting married.
They live in fricking New Jersey.
ETA: They are the sister and first cousin of my neighbor across the street. My neighbors moved here to Texas in 2020.

This is pathetic, especially when you know exactly what the frick it means.

This is the ignorance I’m talking about. Cases of minors having gender reassignment surgery are extremely rare, and are not even available at the vast majority of hospitals. Puberty blockers aren’t recommended until an adolescent is 16, and in those cases the patient has to have documented history of gender dysphoria and parental consent.
But it’s easier to drum up fear based ignorance than actually educate oneself on the topic, and call anyone that actually shows concern for kids gong through this a “groomer”, whatever the hell that means. I’ll be the first to admit the whole trans thing is weird to me, but excuse me if I call out this ignorant fear mongering from conservative lawmakers.
This whole (largely recent) movement to normalize and encourage kids to be trans and have these types of treatments is why this type of legislation is needed. And if you're right that this type of thing never happens anyway then no one should care, right?
Kinda like the anti-lynching law that was recently passed...lynching doesn't happen today, assaulting or killing someone has always been illegal, so I couldn't care less about the virtue signaling passage of it.

So why would this make you leave the state if it is so rare and no one would be affected?

I never said this particular law was making me leave this state. Learn to read better.

Not really as I don’t expect much from our states lawmakers. We’ve already decided we are leaving this backwards state once my daughter graduates Hugh school, so I don’t even really follow state politics as closely as I used to.

This isn't your thoughts about this law? If not, why say that in this thread?

I replied to someone that said this law made me mad. It didn’t because it’s what I’ve come to expect from our lawmakers. Our decision to leave the state had long been made before this bill was even introduced last week.

Is there a way to read this sentence besides reading it as you being upset by this law?

It is that their views require an acceptance of what they always deemed misogynistic tropes.
If you are a biological female who likes sports, the color blue, masculine things, etc., you aren’t simply a masculine female.
No, you are actually just a male, because those are male things.
Same for the opposite.
If you are a biological male who wants to wear dresses, likes pink, is more feminine, you aren’t a feminine male.
No, you are actual a female.
So, you have to accept the viewpoint of what was deemed sexist for decades in order to accept this.
It is wild.
And, the only way to profess this is to be a physical manifestation of the stereotypical gender you believe yourself to be.

I’ve maintained for a long time, progscum are in truth more sexist and racist than any klansman
