It could very well be a HUMIT thing but why would you let the enemy know they need to turn off their location services? Not all of those guys are smart.
You are past your time brother.
ISIS does the exact same thing to run intel on us. They create fake FB, Twitter and IG accounts and try to add military members and hope they leave location services to find were they are at home and on deployment.
Difference they don't have the capability to react on a dime like we do. The guy who posted this is a retard.
So no saying we got him this way is not a big deal. For you and the why are we telling people this crowd.

I'm going to assume that the location services feature is not exactly a state secret in the Middle East. This would be like intimating to someone to wear a mask in their mass murder movies.

Well then why in the hell did it take 22 hrs?
I'm not as proud of this as you if it took us 22 hrs after having the coordinates
You can gain a good bit of intelligence by tracking the guy's movements before you kill him. That would be a smart move to let him dangle on the hook for awhile.

Probably because the story isn't true at all or they needed to confirm it through drone, satellite, or human intelligence.

This kind of detailed information is the kind of stuff I wish our military would keep quiet about. Don't tell the enemy how we are finding and killing them in my opinion.

ISR target teams can take even longer than that. They could have very well know the lat longs on this position and this moron just confirmed it for them to give the mission a green light.

Speaking of social media, I've found some really cool stuff from Kurdish and Shia fighters who have been in combat against ISIS in Iraq. Sometimes they post videos, or they comment on videos, or they post comments in articles. You have to be skeptical about whether they're legit or not, but I've seen some stuff that I 100% believe. The most interesting was a Shia militia fighter who was posting shortly after Ramadi fell about going back into the city to retake it. People in that part of the world are almost as connected to the internet/social media as Americans are.
Even in 2006 when I was in Syria, it seemed like every young man had a cell phone. This was a little before iPhones came out so there was no twitter yet, but I didn't expect cell phones to be so ubiquitous there at that time.
If you know where to look, you can find people talking about the battles going on pretty much as they're unfolding. It's weird. They're usually good about operational security though. They might say they're in a general area and they experienced this or that kind of combat but they don't usually get specific.

It's not like the Air Force reinvented the wheel here. It's pretty basic knowledge to turn your location services off. It's obvious that these terrorists are mouth breathers.

I'm sure they had to verify the target. And do it on the down low.
And just because he said it took 22 hours doesn't mean it actually took 22 hours.

All digital cameras and those in most smart phones tag digital pics with meta data that show geo location where the picture was taken as well as time and date.
If they read the meta data on this ISIS idiots selfie, then it would be pretty easy to turn that into GPS coordinates for a smart bomb.
