S-92 is the only one I feel safe on. The others scare the shite out of me.

You couldn’t pay me enough to get me on a helicopter.
A Medevac emergency flight will be my only potential rotary-powered flight.

Never a good thing to hear, regardless of the color of the paint on the fuselage. You guys stay safe over there, choppa.

You do know how ridiculous this is right? I mean you pay to drive in cars every day and you are way more likely to die in a car crash. Even if you were to spend as much time in helicopters as you do in cars that would still be true.

Watching Kobe Bryant, the LSU student and her billionaire dad, and a ton of police/government well-maintained helicopters fall from the sky doesn’t give me any confidence in them. It’s may be ridiculous but you’ll never catch me in one.

I did my time in helicopters during college. Never again.

Had quite a few rides offshore in the 80's
Approaching hurricane and late to get us off. Fog, water spouts. Dashboard alarms light up and pilot drops to just above water hovering until alarm is figured out. A few more I forgot

My brother had a chip light go off. They put it down ASAP. That afternoon he gets on another aircraft heading out. As soon as he hits the coast a seagull comes through the front. It was his co-workers first two helicopter rides. The co-worker went to the office and turned in his keys.

They called the search off until tomorrow.
Just before 5 p.m. Thursday, the United States Coast Guard called off the search and rescue mission for those on board. Family members were told the oil rig company will start its own recovery efforts Friday at first daylight. Officials described the crash to Scarborough's family saying the crash happened during take off. Witnesses said they saw the aircraft hit the helicopter pad, then tumble into the water. The Coast Guard does not believe anyone made it out of the helicopter.
Damn.

It took off and crashed right back down and rolled into the water?
Search shouldn’t take that long, right?

I’m not so sure that’s not info from the previous incident a few weeks ago.
We’re in Colorado getting 2nd and 3rd hand info from other family members.

The U.S. Coast Guard spent hours searching for four people who were onboard a helicopter that crashed into the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday afternoon, a spokesperson confirmed.
The helicopter was in the process of departing an oil platform in the Gulf when it crashed, the Coast Guard's 8th District, headquartered in New Orleans, tweeted.Coast Guard officials said the helicopter went down about 10 miles offshore of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, — a channel about 80 miles southeast of New Orleans.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released by officials. The National Transportation said it was investigating the incident Thursday.
“Our crews are still searching, but they've only found parts of the helicopter and they haven't found any other people yet,” Petty Officer Jose Hernandez, a spokesperson for the Coast Guard’s 8th District, told USA TODAY.
