I can remember when very few people had privacy fences. We actually got to know our neighbors.

Ours is tall with hedges on the inside that are taller than the fence and the gaps are .5". It can't be used as a ladder really.
And people say wood fences aren't security fences, but that's not really true. All fences are security fences to an extent. Mine would be pretty damn hard to climb, has tall hedges on the inside, and motion lights all over the outside...with a locked gate. That is more secure than no fence.
