I'm really surprised this hasn't happened at a football game in general.

One of the Paris targets was a soccer stadium - the bomber couldn't get inside, so he detonated outside.

Even if he can't get inside he could still cause some damage. Hell a terrorist can go on the quad at UA with an AK and kill a hundred easy on game day.

No, but they do want to kill Americans and lots of them and make a statement.

It's not that easy to hit a large venue like that. It would be much easier to hit a smaller venue. Large venues such as an SEC stadium are usually swept prior to the game and everyone is searched as they come in.

But, if it did happen, it would just mean increased security at all venues. However, there is a tipping point. There are only so many bomb techs, police officers, terrorism professionals that can screen events. There's only so much that can be done.

Yes they want to make a statement. So they would likely target a sporting event that is known across a wider region. People outside of the US don't have a clue about college football.

International Soccer Friendly
World Series
Super Bowl
Olympic Event

Any of those would be a more likely target.

ETA - Forgot NBA game.

There'd be widespread condemnation of racist white southerners, and the usual apologists for Islam

True, but you do realize that some terrorist are here, spread out throughout the south don't you? Some of those guys at the gas stations and small hotels probably have ties with terrorist organizations.

I read something similar to this once. "A Time To Kill" by John Grisham.

Nervous mosques everywhere I would imagine. I only know of two in total in my area and one is fenced off fairly well. The other is pretty much wide open. I would assume that it will take an egg or two at least.

No. I minored in ECON and was looking through some notes from my Economics of Terrorism class a couple weeks ago. We talked about scenarios like this all the time.

What? I've been to tiger stadium, BDS, JHS, and Sanford. I've only been searched once and that was in auburn where they patted down like every 5th college aged person for booze. It would be stupid easy for someone in a suicide vest to get into an sec stadium when the weather turns cool

No.

Even gumps would stand up terrorists to defend their sister-wives.

And as far as your scenario goes, just because someone blows up folks doesn't mean you can go kill people who had nothing to do with it with impunity, not outside of a war setting.

You don't think that they'd walk in a trial? The guy would be championed as a hero from Trump supporters.
