You have the right to keep and bear arms... just not at your place of residence.

Depends on your definition of "your residence."

You have certain rights are tenant to protect your privacy. Landlords can not enter the property all willy nilly. The gun thing is where it gets a little squirrely.

It may not appear this way, but we still have a free market here in the US. The problem is people have been allowing businesses to make these kinds of policies without any repercussions. If enough people didn't like the gun policy and chose not to live there, they would eventually be forced to change or close.

You should be blaming the people, not the company.

Weren't they pretty nice at one point?

I know that they were rushed because of demand and the maintenance quality of those units aren't that great. Add the fact that newer/nicer units are in the area and you have a situation where The Cottages could become a ghost town.

The new cottages they are building across the street and the other new cottages across Burbank they are building are on pace to be built in about 4 months, so I guess they didn't learn their lesson

Stating you are not allowed to have firearms in your residence

All they did was reiterate a policy they already had.

I think they are taking their time with those projects. The Cottages were horribly rushed back in 2009/2010 from what I remember. Not to mention, they had foreign construction crews working while students were moving in (I can remember a student waking up to a man being in her room).

Yeah anyone I know that lived in the cottages said the quality sucked. Leaks, AC problems, etc. plus management sucked. A few of them actually got out of their lease agreement due to it.

Worst that can happen is eviction and termination of lease. The alternative is not have a gun for protective. In the rare case in which you actually needed a gun in your residence I would say eviction is a small price to pay. As stated previously the email is more of a liability coverage and won't result in searches of your apartment for guns.

Any apartment complex that disallows a home defense weapon is a place I'd have never lived back in my younger days.

I would want one more in an apartment situation than a home.

Just ridiculous that idiots think banning guns in any location reduces the risk of gun violence.

I think that only applies to concealed carry, not gun ownership in general. Two very different things in the eyes of the law.

Don't you believe a business should be free to choose who they want to rent to?
