Between the ages of 8 or 9 and 14, I was a huge fan of pro wrestling. Like most kids, when you realize it's a show, you sort of lose interest. I've always found it a little sad that some grown men watch it and care like it's a real sport. But hey, whatever makes you happy. I wouldn't watch it now, but I'd be happy to fight anyone who wants to badmouth my heroes like The Junkyard Dog and Kerry von Erich.

Fictional shows featuring dragons and knights can be creative and interesting.
A bunch of spandex-wearing dudes standing on a square box yelling at each other about how they're going to hurt each other (but not really), on the other hand, is a lot less intriguing.

I enjoyed the Netflix series GLOW. There were moments I think it induced the mania of the crowd in the viewer, which is a real accomplishment. Or maybe I always would have liked wrestling but never gave it a chance. Maybe it's latent trashiness? I don't know.

I haven't watched wrestling in many years but I can say as a 12 year old when mid south was at its peak, seeing Col. Buck Robely and the Junkyard Dog eating at Godfather's Pizza on Sherwood was awe inspiring.

In South Carolina, Jim Crockett Promotions was as big as anything else save college football and maybe NASCAR. I love watching old YouTube clips and hearing Bob Caudle's voice.
