She clearly had some sort of psychotic break
So terrible, such a sad story to see young girls cut down by senseless violence.
ETA my son didn't know Madison but a bunch of Tompkins kids he knows knew her

I agree.
I'm sure they will perform an autopsy/toxicology tests. She was either seriously mentally fricked up and evil, or fricked up on drugs/alcohol and evil. Either way, the world is a better place without her in it.
I'm reading another article now that says that the father ran to a neighbors house for help. Details are slowly starting to come out.

Apparently it was the father's birthday.

And as far as her not mentioning her husband on FB, I'm happily married for 20 years but I don't mention my husband much on FB - by his request.
but you do mention him? or do you at least have a family picture together??

I am not speculating any motives.. but that would make sense to the person you were disagreeing with who said possible revenge killing.
Murder both kids on his birthday? She was nuts enough to not put the gun down for police and get taken out.. but she still didn't shoot the husband. She even went back inside and outside between the shootings I believe.. Yet she didn't shoot him? Any ways, I thought it was wrong of you to question the father's actions during all this without any facts.. Not sure there was much he could do to prevent this. It's really easy to say how you would handle a situation.. It's another thing to actually go through it unexpectedly. Very difficult situation to speculate on. Will be interesting to see further information from this, but still a sad situation. Murder is so ridiculously selfish. People often say suicide is the most selfish thing and that bothers me.. because at least people who just commit suicide on themselves aren't taking other lives with them. Sure it can affect lives close to them deeply, but they are obviously going through something that many can't comprehend and this is in their mind the only means out. Doesn't mean it's the right action, but we selfishly want them around and judge them for their actions. It is their life. People who commit murder then commit suicide are selfish though. Possibly as selfish as it gets, because they take other lives then they take the easy way out. If you got that kind of serious problems and can't see any other way out and take your life, then so be it.. but don't go shooting up people because you can't deal.
Any ways, I'm off my soapbox.

Is this a nice area or what?
Katy has been on the decline for years now but people on here will try and defend it.

I went to school with this guy. He was well-liked by every one. Hard worker at the top of the class. Very sad situation.

This happened in 77494 but the home is in the Fulshear annexed part of Cinco Ranch and the area is VERY safe
That is why Fulshear PD responded to a Katy address.

Troll??
77494 was fastest growing zip in the US for some period last year?
The shooters Facebook has been used now by some jackals for gun control. This crazy bitch had a couple of redneck pics about guns and a post or two. One person must comb for stories and then Facebook profiles to use. I want to post her to the poli board. She makes Rex look like Ted Nugent. The one pic of her makes her look like crazy vegan cat lady. Probably makes her cats vegan too.
Some parts of Katy are grimey, like any big city. But most are north of I-10. That's why I put it in the title. There are spots where Katy blends to Cypress area that are definitely sketchy. Where this shooting happened though is the polar opposite.

I knew y'all would use area codes and play the North of I10 card. Sorry you live in the decline
Posted on 6/26/16 at 10:29 am to List Eater
So zip codes don't matter within a city, Houston boy?
Why don't you roll on out to SE Houston then. Get a lot of bang for your buck out there.
Or be a brave soul and head out to Spring Branch for the resurgence. Just off of Long Point. Sit tight it IS on the upswing. Maybe 10 years it will be livable.

It is pretty clear you don't know what you are talking about
The area where this happened is less than ten years old and is seeing massive construction projects and development.
There are parts of Katy that are south of I10 that are declining but this area is not one of them

I am not sure what his point about Katy has to do with this tragedy. Whatever decline he is talking about has nothing to do with what happened Friday

Yeah that area was pasture when we moved to Katy. I actually went to the Fulshear Post Office for my passport processing. It was one quiet post office that did it. It was Mayberry. We actually had to wait for them. They had a hand written "out for lunch" sign in the window of the post office. Passport is still valid so it was less than 10 years ago.
Yep this threw us all as it developed. And all of my coworkers. I assumed it was a Nigerian dad who slaughtered everybody, because when Nigerians flip they don't half arse it.
Whole narrative flipped on its head with damned suburban soccer mom turning empty nester killing her kids and leaving the husband.

Yeah, it is rare. This shite sounds like something from a Steven King novel.

Not one of the usual posts after events like these...
No Culcha?
No TPOS?
No DINDUNUFFIN?
Wonder what's different?
Frequency and not race is the correct answer. The story of a white "soccer mom" having some sort of psychiatric break and murdering her children is an outlier crime. It is an anomaly. We rarely see it. We know we will hear about a crime like this now and again, a woman has psychiatric issues and kills her own kids. It is not viewed as any kind of larger societal trend and nor should it be. It is very specific to this person and not an indicator of any larger violent trend other than what was happening with this woman and her family dynamic. Was she bi-polar? Was she violently schizophrenic? Was their infidelity or violence in the marriage and she was trying to punish him? Regardless, it's a rare crime and there is no real common societal archetype.
"Culcha TPOS DINDUNUFFIN" comments arise because of exactly the opposite. They come from the weariness people have from seeing the same crime OVER AND OVER again. Some black thug (not trying to trigger you) shows complete disregard for random civilians, and kills two or three people who just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. The first five minutes of any major cities broadcast almost every night are story after story that fit this template. What makes it so easy to comment on is the fact that it is so tragically common and that there are just so many of these same predatory crimes perpetrated by young black males. There is no similar epidemic of white mother's killing their children. If there were, you would get similar comments.
I know that is not what you are looking for. It's much easier to pretend that these comments are just randomly racist comments made by white people who hate black people and wish them ill, but a closer inspection shows these types of comments are far more likely just based in simple observance of what we all see around us. Which is HIGHLY disproportionate black criminality that is factually part of black urban culture and which has arisen from a complete breakdown of the black American family. There is no need to conflate the outlier with the epidemic. When white Moms start a crime wave, I'm sure you'll see a trend of OT phrases arise around it. Until then, the OT will be here to trigger you accordingly...
