None of the above makes any sense. Mistaken identity?

Sheriff Tregre said the report of the active shooter was a case of a mistaken identity, which led to a false active shooter report.

People probably thought that cop was a shooter and called 911

That doesn't even make sense. A rifle in a truck wouldn't cause them to search the plant for an active shooter.

You must not work at a giant refinery

No kidding - I work for a major. Was doing a project in one of our facilities in the Midwest, had security call me because one of their guys was walking around the parking lot and spotted "rounds" in one of my employees trucks. Turns out it was empty shotgun shells from a clay shoot he had been on the weekend prior. That particular guys was an idiot but refineries take that shite seriously these days. Zero tolerance for firearms, ammunition or weapon of any kind (even bows) on property including contractor parking lots.

Back in my plant days, we always met each other outside the fence to take care of business.

What's the shooter mad about?

I actually work at Marathon. My point was, Swat was going around the plant searching for a person with a gun. Seeing a hunting rifle in a vehicle wouldn't cause this action.
They'd call the person to their truck and fire them.

Did they tell the whole plant to lock themselves in buildings and have SWAT actively searching the plant for him. My guess is no, thanks for making my point.

A rifle wouldn’t but a radio would?
You work for a dumb refinery.

Man y'all are dumb. No a rifle locked in a truck outside the gate in a parking lot wouldn't. A radio misidentified as a gun in the refinery would. I know its hard to understand.

You know so much, yet you couldn’t understand my “baw during hunting season” joke. Sound too smart to be an operator. Must be a quality control, safety, sustainability, or reliability “engineer”.

My bad, that was a joke? The punchline must have gotten cut off of my browser. My apologies.
